Ok! This is kind of weird but here we go.

Over the summer my brother and I had bought npc tags where you can put a villager on the tag then scan it with your switch and that villager will come to your campsite. We wanted dizzy the elephant so we invited him with the tag that we made. It worked out and he ended up moving in. No more than a week later he had completely dissapeared off the island. His house was gone and his plot was sold to another villager all without warning. It was as if he wasn't there at all. He didn't ask my brother or I to move out, he just left. My brother and I assumed it to be a glitch and just stayed with the pig.
Now, in January my aunt had bought animal crossing and started playing. She's in the beginning stages where you have to buy plots and fill them with villagers. What she had done was bought plots and let them fill up themselves. Surprisingly, one of the plots were filled by none other than dizzy. That's not weird. What's weird is that when she talked to him, he told her he was from OUR island (Kali Oko). THAT was what caught me off guard. Yes she came to my island once before that and I've been to hers but it's impossible for her to have invited him because he wasn't there. He's been gone for months and it seems like he just popped up out of no where after months of dissapearing.

Does ANYONE have any idea how this would happen??

Also I went to her island to talk to him and he doesn't remember me although we talked before when he used to live on my island. When my brother joined dizzy did remember him though. It's really confusing so I would like to know how this happened or if it has happened to anyone else! Thanks :)

I'm not sure why Dizzy moved away without any warning but because no-one adopted him from your island (no one visited on the day he was in boxes to ask him to move to their island because he disappeared without warning) he would've been 'voided' - this is what happens to any villager that leaves your island but doesn't have a final destination, i.e. they weren't adopted by anyone. When you visit another players island or they visit yours and you have an empty plot on your island then there is a chance that this empty plot will be filled by a villager from their 'void' even though the villager was never seen to be invited to move in - in your case Dizzy had disappeared to the 'void' and when you and your aunt have visited each others island the game has essentially placed him in a move-in queue and as your aunt has let the plots fill up themselves the game has auto filled the plot with a voided villager, Dizzy. Voided villagers remember the name of the island they came from, usually on their first introduction in the new island they'll say they've 'moved from island X' (X been the name of the island they previously lived on) which is why Dizzy mentioned your island name to your aunt (I'm not sure why he only remembered your brother though when you visited him).

In Short: Villagers not adopted enter the 'void' and when people visit each others islands the game can place these villagers into the move-in queue to fill an empty plot that a player hasn't filled themselves. The best way to avoid this is to fill an empty plot yourself - either visit someones island who has a villager moving out (the day the villager is in boxes) and invite that villager or use NMTs to visit mystery islands, when you have an empty plot you'll find a villager on each mystery island you visit and when you talk to them you can invite them to move to your island.

I hope this makes some sort of sense and explains how your aunt has ended up with the Dizzy from your island :)

It sounds like your brother may have said "goodbye" to Dizzy without paying attention. I've done this a few times but with nicknames/catchphrases.

This could be true but we never even noticed him in boxes and we played everyday!
