Villager Houses question !!!

Hi,

I was just wondering how the villager's houses designs are decided upon. Are they unique to each villager, or are they just randomly assigned?

I got Marshal and I really like his house, but I want to reset and wasn't sure that if I got Marshal again, I could have him be in the same design of house.
