Villager move in/out questions

Haven't played in a bit so I've forgotten a few things.
1-when moving in a villager via amiibo if you don't have the mats to make the item they want is there a way to get them to ask for something different?
2-if you ask a camper(amiibo or random) to move in is it possible for them to choose to replace the last one to move in or no? I know the last move in won't ask to move.

If you're using amiibo you can choose which villager they take the place of.

1. No, you'll have to try for a different item on another day unfortunately. I had to go to my friend's island to get some cardboard boxes before because they kept requesting cardboard furniture. So now I never empty my bin at RS so there's always cardboard boxes around.
2. You can choose whichever villager for them to replace, including the latest to move in. Random campsite visitors can also select that to be the one they replace, as I've had that happen before.
