villager move out help?

I've had Fang on my island for well over a year, and its time for him to go.

For the past three days I've been using the time travel method to get thought bubbles, let it cycle through villagers until its Fang whos thinking, but every time i talk to him, its NEVER about moving.

I've gotten him to be thinking like 10 times and its never about moving. Any time its a different villager it is about moving. He isn't my most recent villager, we have a high friendship level as I've gotten his portrait. I also did not ask him to stay recently, the last person who asked to move out was Monique and I asked her to stay. Will they not ask to move if friendship level is TOO high? Has a recent update made this method ineffective? I've dedicated hours to this with no luck. I could use the campsite but I want a specific villager to replace him, and I don't have their amiibo

Only one villager will ask to move out each day. Though several can have a thought bubble for a variety of reasons on the same day.

Other than that, though if you have villagers with lower friendship levels Fang will have a somewhat lower likelihood to ask to move out, it is pretty much all luck.

keep time traveling day by day, and remember don’t say ‘no’ to the villagers asking to move out (this will reset the bubble so no one asks again for about 5 days) instead just turn off the game without asking and move to the next day.

There have not been changes to the move our mechanism as far as I know, my villagers are all at best friend level and still ask to leave as usual (even ones where I have gotten their pictures multiple times)

It is just the perversity of luck that when you are trying to get a specific villager to ask to move they never seem to want to go!

finally got him to move!! and yes, i would always time travel for new move outs after asking someone to stay so that wasnt the issue.
apparently the idea that villagers only think of moving near their house or resident services that id heard before is false, he was waaaay out on my beaches. maybe id missed him a couple of times and chalked it up to no one thinking. at least its over with!! took me several hours lol and Thank you for the advice!

Yeah it’s a tricky business but hopefully they’ll move out soon
