Villager moved out on his own?

Has anyone else had a villager move out on their own without being pinged? I had a Fang move off my island without pinging and I know I definitely did not talk to him about moving out so I'm just curious if that happened to someone else yet (

Odd.. I had heard that villager would not move out unless you told them goodbye first? Though, I do know they no longer "ping" you for move-outs (I think), instead they wander around with a 'thinking' body expression.

I've only had one move-out, which was Puddles. She was wandering around slowly with a thinking bubble over her head.
