... I'm not even sure what just happened. I'm both confused and somewhat upset because it just managed to ruin the nice "neighborhoods" I was setting up in my alt town.

Anyway, was doing villager plot reset trick for 9th villager. TT'd to 5:58am on my mayor, saved, and quit. Started a new character a few minutes later, past 6am. Walked around town and found no new plots, so figured no one was moving in. Built the new character's house and went back to town hall. This was when things got odd. After it auto-saved, an announcement from town hall (I'm guessing?) came over saying "Time to rise and shine, everyone!" Then, my new character was basically transported to their tent, where Pete was, delivering mail. This was at 6:10am. It's like the day reset at that point, as it's supposed to do at 6: Katrina's tent showed up in the plaza; and, more irritatingly, a villager plot showed up! Right in the middle of the area I was resetting to avoid having houses. :( I quit without saving at this point and tried to create a new character, but when I did so, nope, the plot was there.

... I have no idea what happened. I'm 100% sure I created the new save file at or after 6am game-time, so why the heck did the game act like it did and instead reset the day at 6:10!? :( Anyone ever had this happen? Ugh, I guess I'll just talk to the next villager once when they're in boxes and never again, and hope they move out so I can restore my pretty neighborhood...

This has never happened to me because I've always been getting someone for sure in when doing the trick.. But, why would you bother to save your new character if there was no plot? Just quit without saving and go on your main character later in the day ;o

Because as I understand it, if I then loaded my mayor without saving, there's a chance there would be a plot when the town "generates" for the day while loading my mayor. Since I think with the 9th villager, there's a certain percent chance of their plot showing up each day... and I imagine the yes/no is just determined randomly when you load up the game for the first time, much like campers.

i think you don't have to wake up at 5:58 am

from what i heard just when you start playing in the day make a new chacter and look around for house plots. TT to 5:58 decreaces your chance of the trick to work. It does not matter what time during the day, just make sure you log in first with a new chacter, NOT your mayor

So if you have 8 villagers, just every day wake up with a new chacter, incase someone might move in. Same for 10th villager when you know someone is moving in, just wake up every day with a new chacter.

I would recommend not making a new character at 6 a.m. anymore. I always do the reset trick whenever I play during the day (which is usually 10 a.m. or later) and it works just as well. If you want to TT ahead to find a plot, just change the time in your 3DS Settings and do the reset trick then. Just don't forget to turn the clock back in Settings once you've found a plot.

Yeah, I know it just needs to be the first load of the day, but my clock was out of whack so I needed to either TT, or wait like 6 hours to play (which is probably not going to happen as I have class/homework tonight). :p I've done the 5:58 thing for every villager so far in this town without issue. And I'd rather just change the game time than mess around with the 3DS settings... it seems more complicated than it needs to be, doing that. I'll probably in the future just wait a little more after 6am, instead of loading right at 6 or 6:01.

That is what I did. I loaded my mayor at 5:58. Saved and quit. Loaded a new save file at 6:01 or so.

But were you on the train at 6:01? sorry, just when you say loaded a new save file AT 6:01, that wont work. you have to BE in the train at 6. Sorry if that is what you mean XP

That's not true at all. It doesn't matter what time you're on the train. All that matters is that you haven't loaded with your mayor on that day after 6am. Otherwise how would the reset trick work? After all, it's taken me an hour to get a good plot before, meaning I've reset with dozens of new characters after 6am-- some on the train way later than 6 on the dot. In fact, if you haven't loaded with your mayor that day, you could do the plot reset trick at 10pm, and it would work fine.

I had the same thing happen a while ago. It only happened once, though, and while I can't be sure I'm guessing that when I entered my town with the new character it wasn't 6 AM yet.

OK, I'm glad to know it wasn't just me, I felt like I was going crazy! :D I swear it was 6am or later but I guess there is a faint possibility that I loaded just early (e.g., 5:59:50 or something). I'm disappointed but hopefully I can get the new villager out ASAP... and then in the future I will be super super careful, maybe wait till 6:05 or something. :p

I know how you feel! I was "Wait, what?" Fortunately there was no plot that day. And yeah, I'm pretty sure I rushed through the scene on the train, so that's why I think it wasn't 6 AM just yet.
