Villager reset trick question?

When you do the villager reset trick, do you have to cycle 16 to get the same villager again, or is that only for villagers moving in? For example, lets say Rudy, my dreamie, were to show up in my campsite, and I didn't have room. Then I do the reset trick when I do have room. Will I have to go through 16 villagers to get him again? I hope that this makes sense. Thanks!

The 16-villager cycle is for former residents; it has nothing to do with campers.

There is no cycle or pattern for campers that I have heard of; as far as I know every camper reset you can randomly get any villager who doesn't live in your town (or used to live there). So you might get him back in your campsite immediately; or it could take hundreds of resets. There's just no telling.
