Villagers accessing inaccessible cliffs?

I have one 3rd level cliff area accessible only by ladder. Up until today, only CJ or Celeste would ever show up there. Tonight Deirdre appeared with some new dialogue about empty parts of the island. Has anyone seen this before? Is this some new update?

This has happened to me as well - my villagers just "spawn" random places, even up on cliffs where there is no incline. This was a few months ago so I don't think it's new?

This has happened to me several months or a year ago, when I first started playing the game. It happened before I built an incline to the cliff where my house was and yet somehow a villager got there lol.

This happened to me with a villager during the first three months of the game, but I don't think it happened again before I made everywhere accessible by ramp.

I had this happen, but it wasn't a villager - C.J. spawned on a 'decorative' cliff, and he couldn't move. Literally, he just stood on the spot with his idle animation. There was nowhere for him to even step!

I did get that dialogue not too long ago though - it was an area I was (and still am) planning to terraform, so it's mostly empty, just a small cluster of trees and that's it.

I think I had someone spawn on a tiny strip of cliff I have once (It's a one tile ring around a higher cliff). It's normally only accessible by ladder.

And I used to get that dialogue on occasion (it's not restricted to inaccessible areas, just emptier ones I think) but I haven't recently. Nowadays my island is way too decorated

It’s happened to me before, but I’ve never gotten that dialogue. Although lately I’ve seen other new dialogue from my villagers.

Ok, thanks for the replies. It's strange I never noticed a villager up there before. This cliff area is right next to my house, so I'm able to see up to it quite easily.

Yep! It's happened to me! They just spawn wherever they feel like. I wanted to "trap" them there but they get out haha.

I've also had a strange experience with C.J.! When he visited my old island, he stayed near the pool area. All day. I mean, it's fitting for him, but I just found it very strange because other special characters wander all over the place. I logged on and off several times during the day, but C.J. never left that area. He had plenty of space to move, too.
