I don't know if this has been post before or if i'm the only one that thinks Villagers should not be around while terraforming.

At first, it was funny but then it becomes annoying. When i'm doing nothing, no soul is around but when start terraforming... The ones that are out sit, sing and start walking precisely on the zone i'm working on!

Does this happens to someone else?

Yes, this has come up a lot. I guess a lot of people dislike it.

It doesn’t bother me personally, I kind of like when they come visit me and keep me company, even if they can be in the way a bit. I do occasionally nudge them (gently) out of the way or to get them to stand up, but mostly I work around them. For me the villagers are more interesting than the terraforming anyway.

if it is bothering you a lot you can always fence off the area you are working in. I have heard that solves the issue (though may involve a lot of fencing I would assume)

Yeah I made a thread about this a long while ago and I'll repeat what I said before. This is something that always bothered me whenever I was terraforming my island. Whenever I would try to build cliffs and make rivers or waterfalls my villagers would walk up to where I am making stuff and then would just block the way. I find myself having to push them out of the way and they get mad at me for pushing them. That gets really annoying and whats worse is that sometimes they would sit on the ground near the water when you're trying to make rivers. This is bad because imagine if you were trying to make a river but its in a narrow path and your villager comes out of nowhere and sits there and you're stuck so you have no other choice but to push them out of the way.

Since I got back to terraforming recently this is still happening even after playing this game day one. I am asking myself "Why did they not program these villagers to not block your way whenever you're trying to terraform?" I would be curious to hear how everyone else feels about this because if there was one thing that bothered me about terraforming is villagers always getting in the way.

I figured that fencing would be the best option since when you place them villagers cannot block your way. However sometimes they can sit anywhere. This is problematic because if you have a river nearby and the villager sees it they will just sit next to it and you'll find yourself pushing them. I seriously don't know what they were thinking. I heard that when you time travel the best time is 4:00 AM since every single villager will be asleep and you can terraform without any interruptions, but still it should not be this annoying.

Yeah, I use fences to block the little trespassers. Too bad it won't keep NPCs like Saharah, Flick, C.J. and Daisy Mae from walking in the restricted areas (happens if it's a new day and you still have the fences blocking the area).

Edit, I'm convinced they're doing this on purpose.

I’ve only had Bones plop down once in front a river I was trying to get rid of. I just walked inside a building and came out, and then he was gone. I think villagers will sometimes teleport if you go inside a building and leave again.

I know. I feel like the villagers wait until you activate terraforming, to go and sit around whatever area your planning to go work on. My villagers never ever sit down, but when I start doing terraforming, that’s when they want to take a break (right in front of me).
