I got a question: If a villager moves, but there was no one to take her into their town, what happens to the villager? Does it get erased? Or is it something like in New Leaf, where a former villager occasionally visits your town (such as being seen in Main Street)?

It's moved to a place fans have called 'the void'. When someone visits your town, their data can be shifted to their island instead, and they'll remain in their void until a home becomes free (provided the user doesn't go island hopping, etc.).

I've got a few villagers that way. There are two voids I believe - one for your villagers (leaving), and one for other people's villagers (entering). I think the max amount is 3 villagers, or at least, that's the maximum I've ever had move in out of the blue.

Its weird because on Destiny I somehow forgot that Ankha moved out of my island and then my plot auto filled and I got Jay from an island called "Sprial" now I am not sure because I used to have an island called Sprial on my 2nd switch but I deleted that island since last year. So I am not sure if this means that villagers who used to live on islands but have since been deleted can still show up in the move in queue. Its weird of how the system works.

Also I just found out about this but apparently if a villager is in the move in queue that means that they are less likely to appear at Nook Mile islands or the Random Campsite visits. I am so confused to how this is even possible because that might explain why I had so much trouble finding Raymond and Molly way back in 2020.

I guess what I am trying to say is the whole move in queue is pretty complicated in this game because sometimes you may get villagers who recently moved out from someone else's island or it can be a random villager who just suddenly moves in and doesn't mention what island they are from.
