As suggested by the title, my question pertains to the knowledge if a villager is moving away. What is an effective way to know if a villager is moving, rather than them telling you?. Also, does reporting villagers to isabelle make them move?
If a villager is planning on moving away, another villager might tell you in conversation. They'll mention it if you talk to them a few times, depending on how high your friendship is with that particular villager. The villager themselves might ping you and say, hey, I'm moving in a few days, bye. And you can tell them yay or nay.
So, basically, The only way to find out if a villager is moving is from the villager themselves, or another villager.
Reporting them to Isabelle does not make them move.
Another effective way is when you log on the day they are in boxes Isabelle will tell you... Usually before then your other villagers will tell you earlier.
Also, I have looked up the reporting to Isabelle thing and people say it doesn't work. The best way to get rid of villagers is really to just ignore them.
Another way to get villagers to move is by having a high friendship level, I think. I'm not really sure why, but for some reason, villagers who have a higher friendship with the player tend to want to move more than those that don't.
Supposedly, the ignoring thing only works if you just met the villager that moved in and ignore them completely afterwards.
You get rid of villagers faster by talking to them a ton than you do by ignoring them, actually. There's sort of a hierarchy of friendship - the more you talk to them, the more they'll ask of you. They'll eventually start telling you more than random tips about the town and asking you for favours. If you do them the favours then they'll start to ping you to talk before you have to ask them. Once they start to ping you is when they'll generally start wanting to move so one of the things they'll ping you about is asking you for your permission to do so. Uchi villagers, if you haven't been good friends with them for long, will sometimes change their mind if you say yes, though, so if you're trying to out an uchi it's best to hear the news from someone else and then TT ahead day by day. If you're trying to get a villager so stay over a long period of time I wouldn't recommend it because sometimes they'll just move away without telling you.
That's just what I've picked up from playing my copy, at least. Hope it helps!! :3
