Visitors and Visiting other Peoples Towns

Hi folks

I have a wee query. I have a 3DS registered in my name. My girlfriend plays New Leaf and was recently trying out having visitors and visiting other peoples towns via porter at the train station. A relative of mine was able to visit her but she was unable to visit them. Where would the problem lie? I can only think that it has absolutely nothing to do with the relatives friends code as they are registered on my 3DS. I thought it might be because the 3DS is registered in my name but I doubt that as well. Anyone agree its my relative that is doing something wrong? My girlfriend has visited my brothers New Leaf town without any bother so the problem lies elsewhere I reckon. Any helpful advice/posts gratefully received. Many thanks.

the problem could be in the game -- the gates need to be opened for the correct type of visit and if the host opens one type of gate and the visitor attempts to travel another way it won't work.

For example -- the host opens a gate for faraway visitors, but the visitor tries to find a nearby gate. Or the host opens to best friends only, but the visitor is not on the best friends list. (ANCL best friends are not the same as 3DS friends).

If the gate/visit type match then it's an issue with the systems or the connection, not with the game.

So by the sounds of what your are saying because the 3DS is registered in my name and the fact that its my friend code that is on my relatives 3DS (and the fact that my girlfriend doesnt have a 3DS friend code) that is the problem? Dont forget though that my girlfriend has been in my brothers town so it may be a gate opening issue. I thought there was only one set of gates to be opened. Anyone have any other suggestions? What Snow meant was that it depends on the way the gate is opened. You have 2 different ways to open the gate. 1 is faraway which would use your wireless internet connection, the other is nearby which would use the nintenedo wifi (Communicating with a close by Nintendo)

If the relatives are not close by then they would need to open the gate for faraway visitors. Also when you want to visit them you want to chose the faraway option. If you have had a successful visit or trips with another ds then the problem must be on how the relative is opening the gate or how you are choosing to visit. The problem is not with the code. If it said code was entered correctly then it doesn't change with the game. My daughter and I have our own cartridges but share a 3ds, same code different towns. Hope that you can understand this.

They must also open the gate to all friends not Just Best Friends. Unless you Friended each other in game during the previous visit.
