I personally play better with earbuds or headphones. Yet at times, even without them, the volume gets TOO loud like when you catch an amazing beetle or fish. My ears are constantly ringing now. Anyone else notice this? Most of the chatter is annoying but it gets tiring turning the volume up and down.

Lol, I was about to post a thread asking how many people play with headphones lol.

For me, I can barely even hear the ds unless the room I'm in is silent which its usually not. I tried the headphones before to listen to the music while I played (can't really hear it otherwise) and i could hear it good which was relaxing, but it never gets so loud that my ears ring lol. I do the same thing with the chatter though, especially when its Nook or the HHA guy because they can talk and talk u____u

I always play with headphones. Both so I can hear better and to avoid disturbing anyone. At times it really is necessary to wear headphones (fishing), because unless my 3ds is the only sound emitter in the room, I can't hear the plop properly.

when I'm playing generally the volume switch is exactly between + and - or a little lower I never use headphones they're uncomfortable and always too loud

I play with earphones on, but I prefer to keep the volume low since my ears are extremely sensitive to sound.

I play with earphones on, on occasions. Like when I'm gaming last-minute in my bed before I go to sleep, or when I'm in public so I don't disturb anyone. But other than that, I don't have a problem hearing the game without them. I do prefer earphones when fishing, though, you really can hear the plop more clearly.

my hearing sucks nowadays so i really dont wanna damage it even more by using headphones
so i dont use headphones

I always keep the volume at the lowest point where it still makes noise. So it's never really too bad, but I do notice that different sounds don't seem to balance the volumes they should be. ~ BF messages can be rather loud, especially when you're standing on waters edge and the sound fades out a bit and that blasts out randomly as someone comes online.

Really my biggest issue is keeping the volume bit still, why Nintendo thought it'd be a good place to have it below your left palm when you hold the XL, is beyond me.
