Hi guys! this is my first post ever, I'm usually active on Reddit but didn't feel like there's a place suited to share this. Please bear with me if this thread is in the wrong location!

I, like many others, would like to have the 10 villagers on my island that I want most, I care about it a lot. To speed up this process I sometimes use the 15 day TT method. Now here's the thing. The first few times I used this method I immediately had a new villager I could pick up at someone else's island, but the last time I did this I just wanted a free lot for me to roam around the mystery islands or wait for campers. However, the moment I TT'ed back to the current day, I saw the lot was already SOLD again, to an old villager from my BEST FRIEND'S island. The exact same thing happened with him, with Tammy suddenly living on his isle. I was already frustrated at this point. It's a spiral, I went back to TT'ing, hours on end waiting for that beige speech bubble to show up above Buzz' head. never happened. Forgetting my in-game date was still 9 june today a different villager asked to move out, I was okay with it. Minutes later I realized I was TT I went back to the current date only to find the lot sold to YET ANOTHER OLD VILLAGER WHO'D JUST LEFT MY BEST FRIENDS ISLAND A FEW DAYS AGO. Tired and frustrated I forgot to quickly exit the game without saving, so it auto-saved. It really really sucks, I haven't asked for these villagers, if I want to get rid of them I have to TT again and again and that is also ruining it for me. I could cry right now, but I have to remind myself it's just a game and they are just villagers. Hopefully nobody else has this problem, but I still had to rant.

lol That's not a glitch. Whenever villagers are voided form another town that you've interacted with, there's always a possibility they'll show up in your town. Tbh, you really only have a day wiithout TT to choose a new villager for your plot. If 5AM passes, and the game sees that the plot is empty it will auto assign you a new villager. If that villager happens to be from your friends void, so be it, unfortunately. -_- The only way to stop this is to stay on the same day indefinitely, until you've personally filled the plot with the villager that you choose. You do this by resetting the clock so that it never reaches 5 AM on a new day.

That's sadly not a glitch . It's called the "void" mechanic, and it's been plaguing us forever, ruining our towns for the longest time. Basically, when a villager moves out of someone's town, they are put in some sort of "void" for a couple of days. In this void they're gone from the town by all means of the word, but they still exist in your town's files. From there, if someone with an empty plot visits said island, the villager will jump from the void to this new island. If you have an empty plot it's always better to try to fill it with someone you tolerate by going island hopping before playing online at all

Yeah, sadly its been a thing for the longest time in the series. If you've got an empty plot, best not to go to other islands unless you're inviting a villager from them.
