I’ve been getting more into collecting washi tape lately, and I was wondering how many other users collected it, as well! I have a pretty small collection right now, but I love them all. I have some ACNH designs from Nintendo Tokyo that I love, and I also have a chemistry set that’s right up my alley.

When did you start collecting? What are some of your favorite designs?

I'm considering buying some. I detest plastic tape, and washi tape often have such cute designs.

Some TBTers used some in amiibo card trades with me, so I peeled them off and reused them. My favorite one had little gyroids on it.

I use washi tape for traditional art drawings

I've started collecting torward the end of last year, and now I have a bunch, more than I know what to do with. I have lots of different patterns, some are metallic, some have glitter, ect... I also have one that has a wood pattern on it. I use them to add some oomph to my drawings, like borders or to add some colour.

I don’t have a large washi tape collection, but I like using it to wrap gifts and within journals. Currently, I only have plain colours and a selection of Japanese floral tapes that are pretty - love soft florals.

If I journaled/crafted regularly I’d love to collect more given I already have a budding stationery collection without the space or setup for it. 😊

How does everyone store their washi tape?

I have a huuuuuuge collection. I started collecting back in early 2020 and I have a drawer full of them while running out of room. I decided that I would not buy any new roll before I finish at least 5 rolls. Sometimes they're so pretty that I don't dare using them - trying to move from that mindset.

My favorite designs are the ones with foil on them. And anything space / stars / moon themed.

I also made my own rolls for my shop, with a chocolate tablet design, because I couldn't find any while I wanted them and I figured out some people would want it too! Now, I hope to make some foiled tape someday, but they must be done in much higher quantities that I can't afford at the moment.

I use my tapes on decorating letters and envelopes as I write snail mail, I also sometimes decorate my planner with them, and use the one I love less to quickly stick stuff to my wall "sticky notes" style.

Mine are stored in plastic boxes with compartment. I think it's a good way to store them if you don't have a lot. And because I love when stuff are organized, they're all stored by colors 🙄

Washi tape is super cute, but I have this problem with it and other stationary stuff like stickers where I buy a cute journal or something and feel like its too nice to use. I am trying to break out of that though and just use it, so that it doesn't pile up and I forget about it or something.

I don't collect it but I have a couple of nice designs! I think my favorite is a set that looks like envelope stamps.

I also have the "must not waste stickers/tape/stationery" mentality so off to the craft dungeon storage they go.

I got my first washi tape for christmas and I loved it. I use it to mark new chapter notes in my notebooks for school. Makes it super easy to flip through. I recently bought what I thought was only gonna be 5 or 6 rolls but turned out to be 15. Definitely not complaining but it was a shock

i have four that i got from a kawaii box. they're really cute, i'll try to use them more for gifts and letters

here's a video that shows them:

I bought a few from Etsy when I went through my journal phase before NH was released - I have a cute one with peaches on it but my all time favourite is this purple one with constellations! I adore it and use it whenever I can to seal envelopes etc :)

Just counted 20 of them and most are pretty old hehe because don't like using them on things I'll look at for a small ammount of time and then keep on the back of my closet forever, like journals or notebooks, feels like a waste. I mostly use them in furniture or decorating my room. As for the patterns most of them are patterned with a shiny foil, like the one on the comment above mine.

I get tempted browsing Booth stores, but then remember I do all my crafty/writing things on my PC; so I'd never use them.

I don't actively collect them, but back when I bought things from Japan (mostly used anime/johnny's things) some people put really cute tapes on the envelopes/packages and I really love the concept of it!

Woah, that sounds really cool! I loved mixed media pieces, especially when they all look different from each other

Same! I plan to use it for bullet journaling, so hopefully my hoard gets some use. I just need a journal now

It’s always cute when it’s a little decoration!

I just ordered a few rolls from one of my favorite artists. I’m super excited! I got ghosts, aliens, and a little landscape.

I don't have a lot of Washi Tape, as it's pretty expensive, but I love how it looks! It's great for decorating and hiding some "ugly" corners on envelopes and such. :D

I have so much washi tape as I journal in my free time. I have a box that is roughly 6 inches x 4 inches in length and height is like 5 inches, filled it up to the rim, and have one sitting on top that can't fit in it. I usually get my washi tapes from Daiso as it's really cheap and they have cute designs, sometimes they have plain colored washi tapes too.

I love washi tape! I used to have a few that I'd use in my tarot journal but it all got stolen from my car so I have to start everything from scratch. TT v TT I tried to find the ones I had but the site I used doesn't sell them anymore either so I'll just hope they come back for sale at some point. ;; v ;;

i love washi tape, but my collection is very small. i think i have 3-4 kinds all from a multipack. i rarely ever use them so i dont have a reason to buy more at the moment, but there are so many cute ones!! maybe ill get some more if i get into scrapbooking or writing in a diary or something

i have too much washi tape, and i don't even use the majority of it. i have a big multi-layered box that goes in a bigger box with all my other journal supplies (a lot of stickers, felt tips etc.) but i only ever use some of the tape in the top layer. the stuff under it is a bit too... gaudy for my taste. for example, there's a whole set of glittery tapes in gold, silver, rose-gold etc. some with more holiday-themed designs or sentences/words etc. honestly, a lot of it came in multi-packs from stores, and i regret buying it lmao. if my girlfriend likes any of it when she next comes to stay, she can take it asdfghjk.
