As far as I know, nothing has been said yet about the Amiibo from games other than Animal Crossing working with NH.

Well, they said the game supports amiibo cards and figures from the Animal Crossing series and that they plan to support additional characters in the future while using a DJ KK card which however didn't work ("... It seems you can't chat with DJ KK right now."). So I guess at some point they will add those special villagers? At least it would be dumb to not include them. But so far there is not confirmation that the Splatoon, Zelda and Monster Hunter amiibos working (at least as far as I know).

While we don't know much about the amiibo function don't fret. Many will get the game weekw before release I'm sure those people that stream will showcase if special amiibos work or not

They had them in pocket camp so I'm sure itll be back and just be another update to unlock their amiibo/maybe they'll have another event where they sell more cards. Hopefully the older ones still work! I'd hate to have to buy another set
