Have any of you been victims or prejudice based on your love for anime and manga? I've noticed a lot talks about kink shaming and slut shaming and bottom shaming but everyone seems to forget about the otaku culture that has amassed throughout this past decade. Is it right to bully the weebs?

well if someone is an actual weeb then they really should change their ways because its real disrespectful
but i have been called one just because i watch some anime but they're all just jokes

I agree. Weebs are a disgusting subculture of degenerate scum. I went on myanimelist.com one time and found myself surrounded with pedophiles defending the sexualization of young girls.

Depends.
"Konichiwa~ Means hello in Japanese! I wanna learn the language since I really like their culture~" You do you!
"Konichiwa! Watashi Keldi-Chan desu~~~" Um...Oh lord that's on the internet now plz stop ;-;

I call my friends weebs but usually I'm joking around with them. They don't mind...

I really don't make fun of what people do unless they really really try to pressure me into doing it.

I think if "weeaboo shaming" is all you have to complain about, your life is great and you should stop complaining.

Also, slut shaming is totally acceptable and should be more mainstream. I don't care what you reason is, there's no excuse.

Maybe the reason is because sex is enjoyable for a lot of people

Maybe slut shaming wouldn't be so bad if they're wasn't such a sexist double standard hmmmmm

Slut shaming is really odd to me. "Hey you! You're performing a normal evolutionary habit so I'm gonna shame you!" Like...What?

Sure it's enjoyable, but should you toss aside all self control and take stupid risks because of that? No. Also I'm not sexist (I'm a girl which would have taken just looking at my bio to figure out, but whatever), that's just dumb risky behavior. I mean I'm sure doing heroin is fun, but should you do it? No. Why? Because it has consequences that aren't worth the fleeting pleasure, just like being a slut.

More like "Hey you! People like you are why stds are widespread in every county in the world! Learn to say no to your stupid, counterproductive (but, yes, completely natural) hormones until you're in a stable relationship with someone that won't knock you up and leave, making you much more likely to become impoverished and stuck on welfare." But no, these kinds of things make too much sense. I guess I'm just sexist... against my own gender.

i have a hidden pinterest board called 'weaboo shame' filled with anime pins.

Well, there's a huge difference between being a weeaboo and just being an anime/manga fan. Weeaboos worship Japan like it's some amazing utopia. Weeaboos act like anime/manga is the end-all be-all of media and hate on Western animation no matter what. I have little respect for people like that. They are just ignorant, delusional, and closed-minded.

hony...if u r shamin people and not just women for having sex cus of stds and not just for bein sexy gurls thats not even wat slut shaming is...gtfo out...

slut shaming is based on the premise that a girl being comfortable with her sexuality doesnt fit societys standards of a how woman should act...like having sex out of wedlock etc. so if u really do support slut shaming and do slut shame then u r sexist.

ps....a gurl can be sexist toward women...cant believe that even has to be said in this day and age...

1. You can absolutely be sexist against your own gender. Also I don't see where she called you male anyway, she just stated there was a double standard.
2. Someone who has multiple partners isn't necessarily having unprotected sex. Which is probably more concerning an issue than the number of partners someone has, if you are genuinely worried about people getting STDs and having unwanted pregnancies.
3. Also, your argument is flawed, because you're using the slippery slope logical fallacy.

I agree people should be responsible when it comes to having sex. Which sometimes means using proper protection and other times it means not having sex at all. According to my religion everyone should wait until marriage ideally, but it's not my place to judge someone if they don't. I'm not perfect. I don't know what their life is like or why they do what they do. At the end of the day, they have a right to choose what they do with their own bodies, which is how it should be. Even if I don't agree with their choices, I'm still going to respect them, because they're human beings. Plus, I question the intention behind "shaming" someone. I don't think it's to help, because there are more effective ways to do that. I think it's purely to be mean.

I don't think bullying is acceptable in most cases, especially here/with this topic.

If the person isn't being disrespectful or rude then stfu, if you persist on trying to make things difficult for them just because YOU don't like them (for the stupidest reasoning ever or something that isn't worth holding a grudge about) then you are trash. People love to hate, it's pathetic and they seriously need to grow tf up.

I think it depends on what you mean by "weebs". Nowadays, the term seems to be really loosely used to describe anyone who has any interest in anything anime or manga related, but when I was younger, I feel like it was more strictly used to describe people who were disrespectful, creepy, and racist in the way they expressed their love of Japanese culture, usually wishing they were Japanese themselves, and usually thinking that all of Japanese culture revolved around anime and manga.

I think it's silly to pick on people purely because of liking anime or manga, but I think it's definitely not good to tolerate the racism, disrespect, or creepiness, that can often happen in the anime fandom.
