INTRODUCTION

As a Christmas present I received a Switch light from a family friend that wasn’t aware I already owned a switch. I didn’t have anyone to give it to so I kept it and up until now I never really thought about starting a new island. First of all, I was and still am invested in my original island, that I am really attached to, and second, the game it’s not cheap.
A couple of days ago I realised I was finally happy with my first island terraforming and I could give a try to a second island, so I made up my mind and bought the game.
So...here we are! I have a fresh and new island ready to be explored and turned into something cute, hopefully.
I decided to make a journal because I was pretty sad I didn’t for my very first island, which would have been fun to make, so I’ll give it a go with this one!

DAY 1

Introductions : I was greeted by Timmy and Tommy and after giving them my information and making my avatar I was finally able to pick up my island. I didn’t really have a lot of requirements in mind, I like to go with the flow as I did for my first island. Nonetheless, I knew I wanted a different layout, south and west river mouths and possibly a different airport colour. That was about it. And I was in luck!
The first island I picked turned out to be perfect!

First night

After gathering tree breaches and fruits Tom Nook made a toast for the new island and asked for name suggestions. I decided for Honeycomb since this is going to be a very springy island and bees remind me of spring!

Starter villagers

I didn’t really have a black list for my starter villagers, because, most likely, they will move out eventually but I was surprised by my luck.
Pierce the eagle and Katt the cat. I’m okay with Katt being around for as long as she wants and I’m already attached to Pierce. I have never had him but I always wanted to so I’m super happy to have the chance to share this new island with him!

Tent sweet tent ️

Plotting down the tent was a major throwback! It won’t be around for long but it was nice to live the early stage again, now that I’m so used to a 3 stores house!

REAL DAY 1

I sinked with real time and it finally was the real day 1. I was awakened by Tom Nook, eager to give me the beloved itemized bill!

Living the island life

It was a breath of fresh air to go back to the beginning! Everything felt strangely new again, although I have been playing the game for almost one year now. I enjoyed the slow pace and the little successes, such as catching the first of many sea basses or crafting the first of many fishing rods!

Blathers on the way

The major accomplishment of the day was setting down Blather’s tent. I haven’t finished my museum yet on my first island so I’m not in a hurry on this new one. The goal is to relax and really enjoy the game as I used to with previous ones. Simple things, like fishing and catching bugs, something I haven’t done in a long time.

I was blessed with a not so fun encounter. I wasn’t used anymore to catch bugs, especially tarantulas, so I was pretty sure I was about to pass out but somehow I successfully got one!

Social butterfly

One thing I want to do on this new island is to be involved again with my villagers. I haven’t really talked much with my villagers on my original island and I’m starting to feel a tad detached so that’s another goal for Honeycomb new beginning.

Sorry to mess your plans, Pierce, but I’m glad we don’t have exploding volcanoes or typhoons!

Honestly, I don’t know how she does it, but Katt is kinda cute and kinda ugly all at the same time!

Night thoughts

It was a bit overwhelming going back to the very start of the game but so much fun and relaxing. I could never delete my first island because I have a strong attachment with it but I’m glad I made the decision to start a new one. I want to keep my playing time reasonably short and I want to enjoy every bits of the game, slowly. No time travelling, no stressing over terraforming.
Also, I’ve never had rocks with water pools so I’m super excited!
Also also, this dress is so cute and I was shocked it came from a ballon!

DAY 2

Broadcast without Isabelle?

I was greeted by Tom Nook giving the daily broadcast, which was kinda strage because I’m so used to Isabelle now. The two main things: the airport is finally open and Blathers has arrived!

Also, I have a house now! Nothing fancy, of course, but it’s still something! Little steps.

Blathers

Blathers arrived in Honeycomb today, so I can finally have the vaulting pole and the shovel. I cheated a little bit yesterday and I already explored my island swimming around eheh.

First visitor

I found Gulliver passed out in the beach. I wonder when he will realise that no one wants him on that boat, apparently.

Little accomplishments

I gathered the materials for the Nook’s Cranny

I caught my first sturgeon

I found the recipe for the garden bench, which is one of my favorite items

I gave Blathers the 15 species he needed to open the real museum

Got a compliment from Katt about my dress

And I decorated my house a little, with the very few items I could find shaking trees or crafting

New villagers

Because my airport has finally opened I decided to go on a mistery island tour to find the first 3 new villagers. I didn’t have much luck but that’s okay, because they won’t be permanent villagers so I wasn’t looking for dreamies.
For this reason I was willing to take almost anyone but, oh boy, I have been disappointed.
I think that the Animal Crossing God decided to punish me because I passed on Meringue.

And after this two beautiful lazies I decided to let the last plot auto fill tomorrow, because no, no way.

Accomplishment of the night
Last night I couldn’t sleep so I spent at least one hour diving and catching sea creatures. It was tedious and I found myself with too many sea slugs but I was able to pay my first loan!

It seemed fitting paying it off wearing my ugly swimsuit. Fashionova right here!

Also, while diving, I met my favorite boy Pascal, which gave me some wisdom.
Otters are my favorite animal in real life, aren’t they the cutest? I wish we had otter villagers!

DAY 3

Accomplishments

Today was a day full of accomplishments and tasks.
First, I woke up to my house slightly bigger and a new, expensive loan( sea creatures, come to me).

Also, Luna sent me her bed but she doesn’t know I will most likely not use it for dreaming

My beloved Pierce pinned me and finally, and I cannot stress it enough, he gave me my first 4 reactions!

My museums is under construction and it cannot be ready soon enough!

It is getting quite crowded in here, can I say?

Also, this guy is slightly unsettlingly, right?

It’s the eyes, really...

Tom Nook decided to exploit my naïveté and made me do all the work that, in all truth, he should provide! Sketchy raccoons

So I set down my first bridge...

And three new plots for the next villagers: Ellie, Piper and definitely not obnoxious Tucker!
I spy with my little eyes a decent lazy, thank you RNG!

I can do Sherb, I like goats but not a fan of strangely colourful villagers so he will go at some point!

After I don’t even know how many flimsy axes and wasps stings to collect all the woods needed to craft all the forniture this spoilt new villagers wanted I was done!

They will never know the great tent experience like us, their loss!

I admired my Nook’s Cranny, glad that now I can buy more than just yellow cosmos and tool boxes...

And as I walked in I was greeted my Mabel! I need new clothes, she has to be in my island tomorrow! I have been running and diving in this dress for too long now!

Had a little celebration for Nook’s Cranny. They should celebrate me, really, because I was the one getting all the materials...

At least Pierce tried, giving me 5 iron nuggets...I will not forget that, I promise!

Tom Nook realised that his island has cliffs so he gave me a recipe for a ladder and finally I could pick some cosmos to make a wreath for my door.

I had to make one for Piper as well but she will have the audacity to not hang it on the door.

And finally I met with the Hippy Doggo Harvey. He owns an island as well but I will never visit. Sorry not sorry.

And this was all for today! Tomorrow I will greet my first new villager and I will most likely spend ages donating everything I have accumulated on the beach to Blathers!

DAY 4

Today I woke up to Tom Nook giving the news that Ellie moved in. First new villager in town, yay!

Also, he let me know that now the museum is no longer a tent but an actual building! Hurray to being able to donate multiple things at once again!
Blathers, I will bury you under tons of bugs eheh.

Katt made very clear that in her eyes this island is crap and so, to make it better, she gave me a horrendous public bench.
Just to let you know, it doesn’t go with the theme I have in mind, Katt.

Sweet loving and useful Pierce, in the contrary, was crafting in his brand new house.

He is so precious, my little jock eagle kinda thing. It was a beekeeper’s hive, something I will definitely use once I start decorating. He is truly feeling the Honeycomb vibe!

I donated everything that was carelessly laying in the beach to Blathers so now his museum has something more interesting to show other than a sea bass...thank me later, no worries.

I went to check on Ellie and I really really think she is a cutie, but I like smaller villagers rather than gigantic ones. It’s okay, she can stay longer that I have anticipated tho.

Her rosie cheeks are definitely too cute to be real!

I spotted Katt singing in the plaza and I decided to be her first fangirl.

Tom Nook, after exploiting me, was generous enough to teach me how to customise forniture.
He even gave me 50 kits, that was shocking considering how freaking expensive they are!

First time flying

I decided to visit my other island, mostly because I wanted to shop for clothes( spoiler alert: they had NOTHING). So my other self was kind enough to gift my new self the only outfit I had double!

It was pretty weird taking a picture with myself, just more stylish and with more reactions

At least I have a new outfit I can change into!

Come to me, fishy fishy

I had nothing else to do today, so I decided to go fishing. I packed tons of baits, gently given by my other islander and embarked in a tedious hunt for the elusive and terrifying stringfish.

200 fish baits later, it is mine. No sight of the golden trout, of course, that would have been too lucky but tons of black basses and cherry salmons instead.

And that was all for today! I might dive a little tonight to catch the nautilus thingy but we shell, ehehe, shall see...

DAY 5

Tom Nook welcomed me with the usual daily broadcast with the news that Piper moved to the island. We are slowly but surely growing, yay!

Also, today was raining and somehow I was super excited about that because it was the first time in Honeycomb. Also, it meant that I could catch a coelacanth
Anyway, I love the rain in real life and even more in Animal Crossing. It is so relaxing to walk around hearing the raindrops ticking on the trees and the grass sounding all wet under the feet.

Mabel was in town so I run to her to shop for new clothes but I was very disappointed. Mabel had nothing I liked so I opted for the green bandana. It gave me a strong spring vibe so it was okay...kinda.
Mabel, I need new cute clothes so...get it together girl!

I went to say hello to Ellie that now is all settled in her pretty horrible new house.

She is so cute

I also welcomed Piper but she was too busy unpacking so I left her to that. Looking forward for tomorrow!

I decided to take advantage of the rain to catch the coelacanth and it was rather easy...so much easier than the stringfish, ehm ehm...

Also, I got my first oar fish as well

Later in the day, Ellie pinned me and gave me a present. She said it was a very common object from where she came from...it was an iron stand...

I didn’t have much to do so I spent the rest of the day fishing and diving. It was a success, I finally got the elusive golden trout and the last two sea creatures available for the month of March! Huge success!

I called it the night with a little stroll in the museum, especially the fish exhibition because I have the most stuff in.

This has to be my favorite tank, at least for now.

DAY 6

I didn’t play much today because there was really not a lot to do but I still logged in to see what was going on.

Tom Nook gave the usual island broadcast to let everyone know that the last villager, Sherb, moved in and that residen service will soon be under reconstruction! Exciting!

As I was running around the island I found my lost cousin Redd. I mean, he says we are cousins and he looks so sincere, so I’m sure he is alright. I cannot see a lot of resembles but he even gave me a painting!

I run to Blathers to donate the painting so now he can upgrade the museum. The art section is one of my favourite and I like how challenging it is to complete it. I might never finish it because my cousin doesn’t visit often but that’s okay, yay!

Also, major throwback to the museum without the art section on top of the staircase. It feels so weird now that I look at it!

Because Sherb moved in I went to visit him. He is a cute goat but he is blue and in all honesty, I like natural villagers. He says he has snacks but he hasn’t shared any yet...

I stumbled across another visitor. Daisy Mae was doing her Sunday visit and she explained how the stalk market works. I wanted to buy some turnips because making money in other ways is very long but her selling price was way too high to take the risk. Nonetheless, I bough one bundle of turnips that I will leave outside to rot so I can catch ants and flies.

Piper pinned me to give me a present from “where she comes from”. It was an outdoor table, pretty ugly...

I went to visit Ellie and she asked me my favourite movie. Of course I had to go with romance and apparently we share this passion

At night Katt pinned me. She asked me to catch her a sea bass. I said yes but I will not give her an horrible sea bass to put in her already horrible starter house. Nope, sorry.

Also, you must REALLY suck at fishing if you can’t catch a sea bass...I mean, they are everywhere!

That was all for Sunday. Nothing fancy but I know for sure that soon a lot of things will be happening. I am already dreading the first campsite villager, let’s cross fingers

DAY 7

I can’t believe it has been a full week since I flew to Honeycomb but here we are. A lot has changed already since the first day: the island grew bigger with 3 new villagers, we have a shop and as of today, both resident service and the museum are under construction.

Mabel was in town today but she hasn’t asked yet to find a spot for the shop. I’m not entirely sure but I think it has to do with the amount of money you spend and last time I only bought the bandana. So, today, I forced myself to buy all the horrible items she was selling. I swear, not one single piece of clothing was worth my money but hopefully, next time she will ask me to set down a plot for the shop. I need the kiosk for custom design, Mabel!

Also, today I came across my very first flower hybrid! I love planting flowers and waiting for hybrids so that made me super happy!

Speaking of flowers, I have been planting white cosmos since day one because they are my favourite! They look like daisies and I think they fit perfectly the springcore vibe I have in mind for the island!

There wasn’t much to do today, also due to the fact that both resident service and the museum were closed. I didn’t play a lot but I still tried to achieve a couple of things.

First of all, I embarked in the hunt for the barrelled eyes. That little demonic fish took me forever and a day in my other island. I thought it didn’t even exist at some point because I couldn’t find it, no matter how much fish bait I used. This island seems to be more lucky when it comes to RNG( now I’m jinxing myself couple of days before my first campsite) so it didn’t take so long

This was the last fish I could catch in March, yay!

As I was frantically looking for my fifth fossil(nowhere to be found) I stumbled across a very jumpy ghost.
I honestly don’t care about Wisp existence, his items suck and it always takes me forever to catch his missing parts but I still want the nook miles stamps so I had to help him.

Tonight I catches my first shooting star as well. I love shooting stars and meteor shower, although I had very few in my other island so far. Hopefully, Honeycomb will have more! ️

DAY 8

On this episode of the chronicles of Honeycomb we welcome our beloved Isabelle back, knowing that soon I will be annoyed by her daily broadcast and her horoscope. Or her telling about that time she peeled a fruit leaving the skin intact.

Honeycomb has a brand new resident service but yet the tailor shop. Mabel, you better bring your prickly bum to my island and give me that kit. I need custom design, it’s an order!

Nonetheless, it’s nice to take pictures in front of it. Also, Katt enjoying tea is my mood.

Tom Nook talked me about his master plan...I’m intrigued...

Turns out he simply wants to invite this mega star dog to have a concert in our island. And then, to come back every single Saturday blocking the whole plaza. And I thought we were about to share a “Pinky and the Brain” moment. How about conquering the world tonight? No? Never mind, I guess.

Speaking of diabolical plans, my cousin was in town again and he invited me for a little rendezvous of his ship

It looked sketchy but then again, he is my cousin. Family comes first, no matter what Tom Nook says about fake art.

I took a picture in front of the art section because, yeah, why not? Blathers must be proud of his museum...that I am funding.

To fulfil Tom Nook’s master plan I had to, once again, step in and splurge my useful resources to build a campsite that, most likely, will force me to accept an horrible villager. I feel it in my gut, it will be Quillson...I know it.

Let’s try to be excited, for now...

On a happier note, I payed my second loan and tomorrow I will finally have more storage space! Yay!

Also, I talked to Isabelle. It may easily be one of the last times I do so, because let’s be honest, she is pretty useless, but I changed my town tune and my flag. Well, I mean, I will change my flag again when I will be able to access the portal because I’m not skilled with custom designs but I’m happy about my tune. It’s “The Shire” from Lotr

I didn’t do much during the afternoon.

And I enjoyed a invisible cup of tea with Katt and Sherb. They didn’t offer any...how rude.

Finally, tonight beloved Celeste decided to show up. If she isn’t the cutest thing on earth then what it is? Tell me

I ended up the night trying to make some space in my pockets full of clothes. That was the best solution I came up with, since my house inventory is full...

DAY 9

I haven’t been active in a while but here is a recap of everything that has happened in Honeycomb!

First of all, Mabel decided to delight me with her presence and she finally asked me to pick a location for the shop. Oh, I can’t wait to download custom designs! Yay!

I haven’t done much during the day. I simply has to wait for my first campsite to show up the next morning.

Pierce has become one of my favorite villagers! I’m so glad he was one of my starters and I don’t think we will part anytime soon.

Lastly, Honeycomb has a lighthouse! Finally!

DAY 10

Today was the day...the first campsite villager.

But first, I had to stop and say hello to Lief. I also bought an embarrassing amount of bushes to grow, patiently waiting to unlock terraform.

Then, it was time to check who is going to be the next villager in Honeycomb. I was quite stressed, although I knew perfectly well that I can boot out anyone with my only amiibo card, sweet Molly.

I braced myself and I entered the tent.

And it was Zell! I can definitely do Zell! I mean, I don’t particularly like him but I don’t hate him either. I was hoping to be finally reunited with O’Hare but Zell is welcomed to stay. Emh, I mean, forced upon me.

I set down the plot for Zell on the beach and I thanked my lucky star for not sending me Quillson.

I went to talk to Tom Nook and he made very clear that his master plan it’s still on the making and he will continue to exploit me and my time without any retribution. At least he could make me pay less for my loan! Sketchy raccoon, I say!

I spent the rest of the day talking to my villagers.

Piper taught me a new reaction...

Sherb gave me an item to make the island more “pleasing” for K.K.

And Katt called out Sherb. I mean, I didn’t want to break his dream of becoming famous, but Katt and I know this won’t happen. Since when he became a peppy? He could ask Piper her striking move.

I’m sorry Sherb, I know you wish you could be like the cool kids...but you talk to bugs so you can’t sit with us.

DAY 12

On today’s chronicles of Honeycomb something super exciting happened.
I don’t know, probably it was fate, but I was scrolling through the forum when I saw that a member of the community was selling O’Hare. I’d rather find my dreamies through mistery islands or the campsite but in over a year of tours and campsites I’ve never seen O’Hare so I decided to take him. I can’t wait for my favourite bunny to move!

I haven’t done much else, except introducing myself to Zell who was finally done unpacking.

He is not too bad and he gave me a Flamingo.
I will look for you, Flora, I promise!
As soon as Piper is kicked out...I really dislike her for some reasons.

DAY 13

Today I was craving a villager hunt more than anything, but first, I went to visit O’Hare.
He is all moved in and he is officially the first permanent resident on Honeycomb. Probably the second, I think I’ll keep Pierce, although the starter house doesn’t make me too happy...we will see.

After chatting with O’Hare I went villager hunting. I am missing a snooty and a cranky so I was either looking for Wolfgang and Lobo as my cranky and Olivia, Portia, Blanche or Julia as my snooty. For some weird reasons I was only getting Jocks and Uchis but on my last ticked I was greeted by a lovely deer...

Sweet, precious Fauna was all alone on the island so I really had to invite her. She wasn’t on my list of normals but I love her so I’m sure she will stay for a long long time...probably indefinitely

I hunted for most of the time I spent playing so I stopped as soon as I invited Fauna.

DAY 14

Today I woke up to O’Hare roaming around. I’m so happy he is finally on my island, all settled in, and I can’t wait to find the perfect spot for his house as soon as I start to terraform!

Yes, “woke up” was a bit of a stretch since I logged in late at night but he knows how to please me

Also, I went to visit our newest addition, Fauna the deer.

Then I went to resident service and I talked to Isabelle. I honestly wasn’t expecting this because my island is a mess and I simply scattered some items around but apparently K.K. likes it.

This means I have unlocked terraform! It makes me excited but a bit stressed at the same time. As soon as you unlock terraforming the game takes a completely different pace. I know I could simply not terraform but I love it. I will try to take my time and do a little each day, rather than hours and hours of cliff building.

DAY 15

Today Isabelle gave the most exciting announce she will ever give. K.K. is on the island. I honestly hate Saturdays because of him and the chairs blocking my whole plaza but it’s still a huge accomplishment and I can’t wait to make the island pretty and springy

I didn’t terraform straight away because it was night. I will slowly do something tomorrow, maybe my entrance, we will see.

DAY 16

Today I had an unpleasant surprise. For some reasons I complete erase from my mind that Easter is around the corner and that means only one thing...Bunny day. I hated this event last year, all those eggs popping out from rocks, trees, even when fishing. But here we are again and hopefully this time around they have nerfed the spawn rate.

Anyway, here’s Zipper being the annoying creature he really is. Lucky for him I have a soft spot for bunnies...

Although, he is what nightmares are made of...

Also, Ellie had a bubble in her head and I knew straight away it was time to say goodbye to our first villager.

I gave her my full support to flee somewhere else. She was never meant to stay and it was quite fortunate she was the one asking me to leave since we have a second normal, Fauna.

DAY 17-18

On day 17 I have only terraformed my entrance. For some reasons it took me forever and a day to make a very simple design and I didn’t take pictures.

Well, except for this one.

Pierce giving me a pep talk! Thank you, bud, I will.

On day 18 I decided to go villager hunting, since Ellie’s spot was vacant.
Again, I was looking for either a snooty or a cranky since I still miss those personalities and somehow the RNG was on my side this time.

Only two tickets to find my beloved and absolutely stunning Olivia. I mean, those eyes are to die for.

I can’t wait for her to move in tomorrow! I believe she will get along with Katt very well!
