I totally lucked out and I didn't have to reset to find my idea layout. I got everything I wanted in one map! I'm going to use this thread to document the various projects I do. I get both bored and overwhelmed easily, so to avoid either from happening (and to keep the game fun) I decided to break down everything I want to do into Projects. Projects are short-term(ish) things that I can do so I always have something to do (outside of chores) without feeling stressed. To make sure Projects don't become a source of stress, I decided that I will do my best to always have a project (even if it's just to keep up with chores) but I won't rush through completing projects for the sake of completing them. I'll just take my time and get things done at a nice, leisurely pace.
Completed Project: Clear as many weeds as possible
Current Project: Design a Tommy Hilfiger hoody
Donate 5 bugs/fish to Tom Nook (I got an axe DIY from this)
When Blathers set up shop, get a shovel DIY from him
Smack the rocks to get the material needed to make a mirror
Buy a house to unlock Nook miles+
Buy the pro design from the Nook Stop
Make my hoody!
Right now, I'm waiting for Blathers to show up, and I'll be buying a house today. I'm only 50 miles away from being able to afford the pro design upgrade.
I started playing at night, after I opened my new switch and charged it up. I set up my tent and my villagers' tents, fished, caught a bunch of bugs, and sold enough stuff that I made over 8,000 bells! A rather productive night, if I do say so myself.
It's a new day! Today has been quite productive already. I woke up at 7:20 to play before my 8:30 class and I couldn't believe how quickly the time just zipped by. I've been selling quite a bit: weeds, bugs, fish, and a bunch of stuff I didn't want. I've raked in over 20,000 bells and I'm pretty pleased about it. I put most of my bells (all but 1,000) in the bank for safe-keeping. I caught a red dragonfly today! Very excited about that.
I've also begun my next Project: designing a white Tommy Hilfiger hoodie. I collected 5 bugs (actually, 4 bugs and a snail!) and I got some super useful stuff: I learned my native flowers are mums, I unlocked my critterpedia, I learned a watering can DIY, and (the most exciting) I got an axe DIY. With this, I'll be able to smash the rocks and trees and make some stuff. I want to make a watering can (so I can plant and water my mums) and a mirror. Before I make them, I'll go ahead and plan to buy a house.
At first, I was going to put my house in the NE corner, and have all my villagers live along the west coast. But I enjoy having neighbors, so I think I'll stay in the SW region. I'll use my adorable little peninsula as an outdoor library/reading area/garden combo. So I'll plant my mums there.
Tomorrow, I should be wrapping up with this Project. So I'll need a new one!
Next Project: Build a Bridge
Future Project: Plant an Orchard
After I build a bridge, I'll turn Sapphire Isle (the little island in the middle of my island) into an orchard. I'll just scatter the fruit trees as much as I can, no specific pattern.
I made a private twitter account to dump all my animal crossing screenshots. I don't feel like making it public because it's just a storage location so that I have a place to put my photos without taking up a bunch of space on my switch. I'll regularly transfer all my photos from my switch to the account then go back and delete all photos on the switch. I don't have an SD card and I don't want one (I literally just bought the switch to play this one game) so this will make sure I can continue to screenshot to my heart's content without clogging up my device.
Right now, I don't have a theme for Sapphire. I just plan on placing villagers along the west --> NW side of the island, and then complete the ring with the shops along the NE corner and east coast. I'll make a windy road to connect everything (Central blvd) and I'll leave a gap between the homes and shops in the northern part of the map. I want a lot of trees, too. I do have an acorn (I think. I hope I didn't sell it) that I'll plant, along with my mums. I'll plant it at Sapphire Cape.
Once that's done, I'll decide on a theme and work to get my island to match the theme ... when I get tired of that theme I'll pick another, rinse and repeat.
I accomplished everything I sought out to accomplish today and more! I ended up catching 13 different fish/bugs to give to Blathers tomorrow and I bought my house. I ordered an aqua colored roof, which I will most likely promptly change to black. Tomorrow, the first thing I'm going to do is check my mail for packages because I ordered a bunch of stuff today. After that, I'll go see Blathers.
I went to a mystery island and invited Sherb back to my island! I liked him immediately because he's blue and he looks nice. I would like to have one the cats on my island at some point too. I made my watering can but I need an iron nugget to make the mirror so I wasn't able to make it today.
I ordered a wet suit today, and if it comes tomorrow I'll be able to go swimming!! I'll see if I like the color scheme of my house; if I don't I'm taking it right back to the shop to get it switched out. For this first island rendition, I don't have any specific theme in mind. Not yet, anyways. I also made my first pixel art shirt design! It's a flower and a butterfly; I need to go back and edit it to fill in the white spaces because it still shows the original grid which makes it look unfinished.
I'll get around to designing that Tommy Hilfiger hoody tomorrow for sure, for sure! I also bought a pair of shorts today; they come in purple but hopefully I can change the color. I took some beautiful sunset photos but I'll upload them tomorrow.
I have just learned that I cannot change the color of the shorts. Oh well, I needed a pair. I'll just sell them once I get a cuter set. Speaking of selling, I need to ease up on selling stuff. I do have almost 40k bells in the bank, which is nice ... but I made a new rule to only sell duplicates of stuff because I sold all my stones and then unlocked a DIY that needed stones ... which I just had and sold off.
I also brought back coconuts from the mystery island! Next time I go to a mystery island, I'll empty my pockets of everything except for a fishing rod, a net, and an axe (and a shovel when I get one).
Blathers is currently upgrading to a museum and he'll be ready tomorrow
I got a shovel and a vaulting pole and I built my very own DIY workbench
I upgraded my tent to a one room house (and Coach and Renee have homes as well)
I turned Sapphire Cape into a garden with a bird bath in the middle
I added new furniture to my house: a bed, Jack's poster, a velvet stool topped with my radio, a trash can, a desk topped with a table lamp, and a mirror
I invited Kitt to Sapphire
I've really gotten into the swing of the game and I no longer feel like I need projects to do all the time. I've just been getting things done in a logical order. Next up, I'm going to start giving material to Timmy to get Nook's Cranny up and running
