I've been reading on other sites that simply turning the power off while saving/loading will destroy all your AC data, that really sucks when in AC:WW there was a backup save to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Also something as simple as a power cut could lead to 6 months of hard work being deleted.

This is by far the worst thing Nintendo has done, turn off the power once and it's bye-bye to your save, could they have AT LEAST allowed backups on the SD card!?

Oh btw, my save isn't corrupted.

Eh? This isn't just Nintendo that's done this.
Why do you think on the majority of games it says "don't turn the power off while saving"

Not really.

AFAIK, when you save game files in every game, it overwrites the previous one. But before it's replaced, the previous file gets deleted. So when you shut off while the previous file is being overwritten, the new file doesn't get saved, and you're missing a chunk in your previous save file which makes it corrupted.

AC:WW and Pokemon DS games said this too, but turning the power off on them doesn't corrupt all the data. The backup takes it's place, something this game doesn't do.

Oh, and Travis, I don't need an explanation on how saving games works, I already know how it's done.

No I did it on WW by accident and my save file got deleted.

When you're saving it doesn't come up with a screen saying '' Do not turn off power'' for no reason :p

Then maybe you shouldn't turn it off while you're saving. I think that's a great idea.
>_< I know, right? Common sense.
Ever heard of Power cuts?
That's the exact reason why we should have a backup save, our data could also be corrupted because of pets, crashes and stupid siblings.

What if your pet cat pulls a cable out when saving?
What if the game crashed while saving? (though it's very unlikely)
What if your 2 year old brother touches the power button or turns the power supply off?

well then, sucks for you! but all of those are highly unlikely. just don't play during thunderstorms to avoid power cuts. and i don't think a 2 year old baby has any interest in mashing the power button, even though it may be a light.

Why would you turn off the power when saving? It tells you explicitly not to do that. If the power gets cut off (storm, blackout, whatever)... you're kind of out of luck. This isn't remarkable or specific to Nintendo - this is true with a lot of computer systems. Ever lost schoolwork from a power outage on your computer? It's the same thing. Just hope it doesn't happen, and save regularly if you're worried about it.

same here, but lucky it wasn't during the saving time

and yes I agree, there should be memory back up or sd card
or a memory card of some sort(optional)

You can make backups on your SD card if you hack, you know..

OOPS. I am not allowed to say the word "hack" because it's the most dangerous word ever and shall never be used unless it's the end of the world!!
...Stupid rule..
