I just bought a couple of packs of Amiibo cards from Target. It came with 5 regular characters and a special character card which was glittery looking and were like Blathers, Isabell, Jingle, and KK. Can anyone tell me if there is a use for the special cards other than just collecting? I tried to scan them in and they all gave some reason why they could not come. Is there a real use for these special cards? Thanks in advance.

I don't believe they have a purpose in NH? I know in Happy Home Designer you could scan them in and decorate their houses. In NL I think they'd give you a random in game item. Anyone please correct me if I'm mistaken as it's been awhile since I've scanned mine.

If you scan them in Harv's Island, you can take pictures with them. You can also get their posters for sale in Nook Shopping after scanning them.

Can you not also invite the villagers? I know you can in New Leaf, but I swear I moved in Wolfgang on New Horizons by scanning him in as well. Unless that was removed for some weird reason, you should be able to scan in any villager at the the Resident Services to come to your campsite and ask them to move in if you so desire. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me but I'm certain this is a feature lol.

They're talking about the special NPCs not the villagers.

You can take pictures with them in Harvey's island, but only if that character is in the New Horizons game. Some, like Mr. Resetti, are in older games but not in New Horizons. Those will not show up at Harvey's island, but you can still get their posters at the Nook Stop terminal after scanning their Amiibo.

You can also scan them in TLOZ: Breath of the Wild. They're really good for getting materials! My bf and I amassed a large amount of meat (in BotW) by scanning all of my AC amiibo cards – even the duplicates. It's neat having duplicates of the same card; the game will detect it's a separate amiibo card, so even if you've scanned a Redd, you can scan another duplicate Redd card if you have one.

Lol this sounds like the villagers have been butchered to feed Link...

Thank you all for the help. The guy at Target (who has been playing AC for quite a while) told us that you could use say Redd's card and invite him to your island every day if you wanted. I thought that sounded strange but he has a large collection of Amiibo's so I thought he knew what he was talking about. Thank you for straightening it out.
