What Are Your Thoughts Of The Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Anime???

Great show, horrible fanbase.
I know that statement is true for a lot of mediums, but JoJo's fanbase is exceptionally bad, like it comes from hell.
As for the show itself though, I wish I could separate my memory of the show from the fanbase a lot better, because I really did enjoy my time watching it last year, and rewatching it this year between Nov 4 - Dec 2.

I tried watching it, I couldn’t stick with it because I didn’t like the animation and the story. But the voice actors (dub) were top tier!

Very good, it's what got me into JoJo. I do think the newest part has a little dip of quality at the beginning but it improved towards the end.

It's also got good memories for me. My partner and I started watching JoJo before we started dating and then when we started dating, we had little discord date nights watching JoJo & eating takeout. Good cozy memories.

I like it a lot. Masterpiece no. Most of the parts are very flawed to be honest, but the style carries even those to an extent. The unique style of the series is really what you get in there for, some parts use it better than others. I really like seeing the different styles across the series and how it grew, I like the legacy and the designs. My problem comes in with most of the parts being very loosely planned out and there are some arcs I just think are garbage etc. which of course would happen with a long-running series but it totally lets down certain parts. I take most of the series as a rollercoaster ride with some gems in the rough:

Part 7- the crown jewel of the series, and undoubtedly the best part. It still has a couple of obvious flaws, but overall this is the tightest, most thematically layered snd intriguing. Best part in almost every single aspect.
Part 4- Kira is the best villain and while this story is extremely loose the tone makes it easier to excuse that. Also has the best memes lol. Some bias from nostalgia here but nothing else really captures the same feeling as DiU for me.
Part 2- very straightforward but very fun and has somewhat less of the crap that bogs down certain parts.

Part 5/6 are decent, 3 has some iconic scenes but is overall too long and better viewed abridged, 1 really shows the lack of polish but is enjoyable, 8 had a couple of great arcs but most of it was meh-bad and Wu-onwards was just awful which dragged that part down part 8 is bad lol

I honestly think the fanbase is a lot of fun. The horrible reputation it has is very undeserved. I shared this opinion on another thread, but it isn’t toxic, if it really were we‘d be saying things like peak Marvel fandom are toxic. They were just as annoying, Marvel was everywhere and “I understood that reference” and a lot of other bad jokes were just as forced. Oh my god, the people I knew who liked Marvel would butt into everything the way some Jojo fans do, and the way I did back when I was more cringe. Marvel Is still omnipresent. I’m sick of it, I’m sick of Pokémon, I’m sick of certain other anime but I don’t rue the fanbases for being passionate. Some of the coolest people I’d known were big fans of JJBA and the quality of fanworks is great. Whenever I had joined a JJBA group, they were a lot cooler and more well-adjusted than a lot of other fandoms. There’s a lot of cool discussion etc. in smaller groups there. There isn’t much harassment or drama compared to fandoms of a similar size and as long as you can stomach bad jokes the people there tend to be very cool. I don’t think the problems with being overzealous are unique to this fandom, I don’t even think the scope of that happening was unprecendented.

Controversial opinion: part-skipping is totally fine and is one of the few things the fandom makes too much of a big stink about.

I like the first season the most, though we didn't finish the series (we stopped in the middle or close to the end of 4). My spouse hated it after the first season, but I was ok with it. And he only thought the first season was ok. I thought it was great.
There are other animes that are better out there. (don't 🍅 tomato 🍅 me!)
My friend is super into the Jojo series and adores it and it seems very popular and loved among many.

My dislike towards the fandom is admittedly towards an incident I had in the JoJo Discord recently, when another user was provoking conflict, I politely asked the mods to just tell him not to bother me anymore, they bashed and muted me instead. I used my other account to ask the mods for an apology from them, for the mods to apologize for partaking in trollish and unprofessional behavior (something mods should not be doing), and they only doubled down in their horrible behavior.
The fact that trollish mods like that are mods of the main JoJo forum just really set me off.

Great show, horrible fanbase.
^^^this.

I only watched the first 2(or 3 depend on how you count) seasons and while I do like it, and its soundtrack I don't ever see myself finish it if I find it again. Good stuff but I think I'd rather read the manga at this rate.

And yeah most fans for it is horrible. I say most, not all.

It’s all right…it inspired me to create some more morally grey characters. (Surprisingly complicated.) I didn’t know it existed until waaay after my peak anime obsession (teenage years) so it took me a while to get into it. I read some of the manga (Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders) from the library and found it good. A lot of people say they like the one arc set in Italy so I might try it…but also not sure bc I prefer Araki’s older art style.

I don't really have an opinion on it bc I don't watch anime, but my brother absolutely loves it and the clips/memes he shows me that are related to the show are always hilarious, so from an outsiders perspective I would say it's pretty interesting and funny!
