I'm just curious to see what the common stat is for most read genres of novels. I'm working on two stories right now, one I plan to make a series with possibly six books, and the other is a single novel.

My favourite genres to write are fantasy, supernatural, and thrillers. I like lots of action, epic breathtaking scenes, and moments where anything could happen and anyone could die (maybe not to the extent of George R.R Martin, but enough to get your heart racing!)

My first book/series: The Hour of Eden

Plot: History takes a turn for the worst when the plague ends up spreading and decimating a majority of humanity, forcing an early migration to the West for safety. This epidemic was spread by the reapers, odd demonic humans who use venom to spread misfortune and feed on the misery of humanity. In order to protect themselves from the reapers, massive clock towers were erected in key cities that played a specific song at specific hours of the day. This song, for some reason, is repulsive to the reapers, and keeps them away from the humans at all times. However, there comes a day when the song is no longer resistant to the reapers, and humanity must quickly find a way to solve the mystery of why it doesn't work, and how to deal with reapers hiding inside the bell range.

This one I plan to make a saga, because there are a lot of plot twists and mysteries to be solved, as well as character development. I also want the ending to be very climactic with an appropriate build, much like Harry's final showdown with Voldemort. This one I would consider a supernatural thriller with lots of classic superstitions intertwined, and aimed at more of a mature audience who can handle a little blood and violence, profanity, and implied sexual content.

My second book: Redemption House

Plot: What would you give to have a second chance at life? In the redemption house, you get that chance, if you?re willing to fight for it. Erica Blakewood, a rather insightful sixteen year old finds herself at death?s door after a fatal accident ? literally. It is there that she is invited into the redemption house, a manor where guests must be put through a variety of trials to determine if their lives are worth saving. Through all of the strife, Erica soon learns that while accepting death may be a hard pill to swallow, struggling to fight for the life she left behind may be an even worse fate.

This one was an idea that's still really in the rough stages, but I thought it was kind of a neat approach on morals of life, sacrifices, selflessness, and accepting death. It's a little more tragic, with each character getting a TON of development and all of their backstories counting heavily towards the emotions of the plot. I would consider this one a little supernatural as well.

Anyway, from what you've read here, would you be interested in reading stories like these? Don't worry about offending me if you say no, I just really want to know my demographics and targets for when I try to put these stories out there. Any input would be appreciated, so thank you!

i like thrillers/horror/etc
like silence of the lambs, psycho, the shining, etc
but i like the plot of the second one it sounds p good
10/10 would read
the first one also sounds really good but not my cup of tea
im not into supernatural books or anything much

I like science fiction and horror. My favorite authors atm are Haruki Murakami, and Scott Westerfeld. Westerfeld wrotethe Uglies Series, which are my favorite books of all time and have been for ten years.

Fantasy and dystopian/utopian sci fi novels mostly. A series of Unfortunate Events, Warriors, Uglies, and The Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) are my favorites.

'The Redemption House' sounds familiar to me. Just by any chance, you're not on the NaNoWriMo forums, are you?

But I do think that both are interesting concepts, and I'd probably at least start to read them.

But as for my preferred genres...? Fantasy, action, adventure.

i favor dystopian, adventure, & fantasy type books but tbh i will read anything. im really open when it comes to book genres

I am not, but I'm really considering it since it's a great way to share works with other writers!

Wow, we share the same tastes in books.

A bit odd stuff, preferable from Asia.. And classics.

Pretty much anything that's not 'feel-good' or stereotype crime.
