Based on the dominance of political parties in the house of representatives (lower congress) the senate (upper congress), and the presidency (the white house), what do you think is better for our country?
Although I'm in favor of Republicans dominating the entire federal government, it would be better if the house and the senate were both dominated by one political party by 60 senators and 290 representatives and the president and his/her cabinet being part of another political party. If all three of them were dominated by one party, it will mean full power from one political party. This is how we got Obamacare enforced. There weren't enough Republicans in the federal government to block the bill. Having the house being dominated by one party and the senate being dominated by another party will mean they won't get anything passed in Congress. But if both the house and the senate were both dominated by the same party and the executive branch is the other party, this can weaken federal power. Both branches of the house can disapprove of executive actions made by the president while the president can veto the bills passed by the house. This could let state governments do their work more while the only laws the federal government can pass and enforce are the ones both can agree on. It's better for our nation, especially during an age of polarization like now. A smaller and more limited government is always better.
Let's not use this thread to debate on issues (like healthcare, socialism, bathroom debate etc), but rather on how the federal government and how political beliefs affect their political actions.
