Say you're on vacation or whatever, does life go on in village? Do flowers die or villagers move?

When you switch on your game your flower will die but if you have the beautiful town ordinance then happy days. Not too sure about the others

Life goes on even when you are not playing. If you are going on vacation and don't want your flowers to die, put on the beautiful town ordinance. You villagers may move and there is unfortunately nothing you can do to stop that unless you talk to them before they pack up their boxes.

I heard you can change the date through your system settings to the day you last played on and it should be like nothing ever happened

I do this whenever I miss a few days fr whatever reason.
It definitely works changng it through the system settings, although I'm not sure if it works if you change it through Isabelle

If you have beautiful town, NO to both questions

You have to load the game to trigger life in the villager (for villagers)

No? If that's the case, why do villagers move away if you haven't played in a few weeks? Pretty sure they trigger "life" whether you play or not :p

Well I do know that if you accidentally time travel a year in advance, there is a good chance that no villagers will leave. I think the only way that a villager would leave due to you not playing would be if they were already planning on moving before you stopped playing for a while.

If you water all your plants the last day before you go on vacation, all of them will be there whenever you play the game again. However, some will be wilted. You can always just get the beautiful ordinance like said above. Check if any of your villagers want to move out before you go on vacation. If you're sure that no one desires to move out, then they will be all there when you return.

This is possible because the game is only affected on the days you play. The way they made the game prevents two or more villagers from moving out if you take a break from the game.
