like being able to change your map to your liking, being able to alter your appearance, and choosing where villagers set down their houses...

Is that I feel like there won't be much a need for people to restart their islands. I'm one of those weirdos that still has their original 2013 New Leaf town, but I have so many friends that restart their towns constantly because they either want a different face or hate their map. But now those people will just have the option to change their map and faces whenever they want to.

I don't restart constantly, but I am one of those people who doesn't make a plan until I can see my options as far as customization goes (items available, PWPs available, whatever). I pick what seems like a good map at the time, but then it turns out there's a non-movable rock right where I'd want to put a building or a path. Or a villager will move in where I want to put something and I have to wait until they leave. Sometimes it can be really hard to get an animal to leave and take so long. Also, plot resetting was so tedious if you didn't want a villager to plot in specific places.

So yeah, because of those things, that's why I'm glad we have so much power to change things.

The fact that once unlocked, I can terraform my island to my liking will definitely keep me busy and unlikely to reset to experience something 'new', since I can just create it.

Yeah, I completely agree. With New Leaf, I wanted to keep my original town but ended up resetting many times because I would get frustrated with my town layout/house placement/character. I'm really excited for NH because I think I'll be able to keep my original town and watch it grow and develop without being tied down to one layout/theme/whatever.

Exactly. Instead of restarting and spending 6 hours looking for a map we like, we can just spend 12 hours creating it lol. And we can keep our progress.

Yes! It's hard when you're indecisive but also sentimental, haha.

The only reason to reset now would be a new name, town name, or hemisphere. Everything is superb!

Since the game is so fluid so far, there might be a chance we could even re-do those too! Then there would be absolutely no reason for resetting. Which is why Mr. Resetti desperately needed a new job! :p

Name and Island name, maybe, hemisphere, I wouldn't bet on it. That is far too great of an impact as it changes the seasons. I don't expect Tom Nook has the money or power to relocate land mass to another hemisphere without some sacred black magic.

since we don't know the limitations on terraforming, i'm going to reset for a map i like anyway

Same. I want to find a map where the river exits are in a spot I feel I can work with. We also don't know the extent of what we can do with the permanent rocks scatters around the island (not the basalt-looking ones on the beach).

At this point, I'm not counting anything out until it has been officially confirmed or the game comes out.

And if Tom Nook does have the money and power to relocate land masses through the hemispheres, I hope there will be a witch or wizard hat in the game because he will need one.

I think the QOL changes will realy help with people sticking to their islands. If there's something you don't like, you can probably change it, which makes resetting an island over one or two things that really bug you seem way less appealing when you've dedicated time to it.

I was planning on resetting in the beginning of NH, and I probably will a few times, but I'm way less worried about my perfect beginnign town layout when I know I'm going to be able to fix it all eventually.

i rarely restarted my towns but i?m so happy that we?ll have more freedom in new horizons!
