What I really want? Functional backpacks!!

I've seen a lot of custom QRs featuring backpacks, but I'd love to see real backpacks and purses in the game. And, depending on its size and quality, also expanding your inventary. Smaller purses would only add two slots, while bigger could carry up to one extra row of objects.
Of course, if you unequip the bag the items are going to be still in the bag and you can't get them unless you re-equip it or another with the same capacity (otherwise people would exploit it as infinite storage, I know I would).

Sounds like a pretty cool idea, I like it! Would be neat if you could also design your own
backpack, like Mable and Sable offer blank backpacks you can then design in the way you
want it. And having backpacks that matches with other outfits would be really nice too. I
hope something like this is in the new game.

Yes!! I had this exact thought, around when the announcement dropped -- There could be lots of designs to match your style, both in terms of color and bag type -- So you could have backpacks, purses, messenger bags, maybe even hip bags/fanny packs.

Expanded pocket space would be the obvious use, but it would be interesting if you could do a sort of Pokemon thing, where having a bag means that certain item types automatically get sorted out of the way. So, fossils or bugs or fish wouldn't wind up taking up your 'main' pocket room!

Also, neither of these are necessarily related to bags, but I'm heavily in favor of the following:

- Give us back the ABD/Shopping Card, and DON'T make it take a pocket slot!
- Give players an option to send an item straight into their storage space, if their pockets are full!

I think that one of the "goals" of the limited space is making the game slower-paced. You can't hoard things, so you will have to make trips to storage or drop stuff, so I think that fossils, bugs and fishes taking space should still be a thing even if it is annoying, but having an option to send an item straight to storage or have it delivered to your mailbox while in a shop should be great!
And omg, ABD/Shopping card? That would be wonderful.

And fanny packs? Pfffft I can think of a few villagers pulling that off. Yeah, I think they should have those too but be decorative

I personally would use the bags to carry the equipment. It is cumbersome to carry the shovel, the fishing rod, the sling and whatever I need/want at the time. I think these items shouldn't occupy a precious slot in my inventary.

Ahh, yeah, good point about the tools. The D-pad shortcut equip was a welcome step in the right direction, but depending on what sort of day-to-day workload you have in your town, that can wind up wasting a lot of space just for gear.

I would love to have a backpack! I would use all of that extra space, I'm a notorious hoarder so not having to make a billion trips would be nice. I would probably use it to store tools too, there has been so many times I didn't want to take up a space with a tool and I ended up needing it. I missed out on so many balloons!

Yup! I'd totally love this.

I honestly wouldn't mind all backpacks/purses to share the same items so I wouldn't have to worry about what's in what and keep track of it all?

This is actually such a good idea that i'd love to see too, every time i got QR tshirts with backpacks in ACNL it always looked kind of... off, even though i always wanted one
