Is it good to do, or something that should be avoided? I just got New Leaf and am not so sure if I should use TT to cycle through villagers and such, or just let the game play out. What are your thoughts?

This topic is discussed a lot. Basically, it's your game and you do what you want. If TTing is what you think would enhance the fun you have in the game then do it, some people prefer not to. It's your choice :)

If you're the sort of person that needs to have things exactly how they want it (i.e. dreamies with perfectly placed houses) to have fun, utilize TT and the reset method. If that sounds tedious and not fun at all, just let the game play out. Either way is fine.

if you like it, do it. if you don't, then don't do it.

like others have said, there are a lot of different opinions on the subject but it's your game. play it however you like!!

I don't mind doing it, but for anyone else who wants to attempt it exercise EXTREME CAUTION. You'll lose villagers if you're not super careful.

I find TTing addicting though. I promised myself when I first got the game that I wouldn't do it and I'd play day by day. But then I started TTing only to regrow grass. And then I got impatient in having to wait until next month and then spring to complete my collections. So I TTed to finish them. Then I also TTed to play through the Harvest Festival because I know I can't play on the day of.

But the bottom line is, TT if you want to. If you don't like it, then don't do it and don't bag on others who do.

I agree 100% with this. People should be able to play however they want without being criticized, or told how they play is the "wrong" way.

Play the way you want to play, that's the point of a game.

People get up-in-arms about whether TTing is the "right" thing to do or not. Some see it as cheating, and others see it as being lazy (being unable to wait for the year to pass).

I see it as a way to maximize gameplay. My favorite thing to do is talk to my villagers and shop, so when it gets past 10PM or so I TT to the next day. Nothing really happens at night (I'm not really into working on the Museum yet), so I'm just skipping over a quiet time of the day.

But if you have valuable villagers or things you have yet to unlock, it probably is better to wait it out and play day by day. In the beginning, I played day by day and enjoyed watching my town grow. :) Now that I'm at a comfortable point (lots of shops unlocked) and a nice set of villagers, I'm alright with TTing.

Yes...the above.

I am trying TT now to help people get their dreamies. Normally I TT in "small doses" like a few hours because my own hours can be really wonky and if I let things go Real Time I would never be able to buy or sell. So in lots of cases it is a necessity for a group of us with odd hours.

I fully agree with play how you want to play. It is nobody elses' place to tell you how to enjoy your own game, really. On the other hand, listen to the views expressed, weigh the pros and cons if you feel the need to, and THEN decide.

Whatever you choose, have FUN! :)

I don't do it, but plenty of others do. I like it laid back and "real time" so take it day by day.

Others skip ahead to get collections, regrow grass, get unwanted villagers outta there, unlock things. Many, many reasons. Personal choice and whichever way you feel comfortable playing the game-do it your way!!

I don't TT, because I`m scared to lose villagers I really want to keep around. I guess I read enough about TT?ng to do it accurately, but still, its not worth the risk to me. I like that the collecting aspect of the game is literally gonna cost me a year. Maybe later on, to get my dreamies I`ll start TT'ing to speed things up, but probably not.

For now anyways I don`t miss that function of the game. I love the slow pace, I got enough fast paced stuff going on in my life. ;)

One time I time traveled to the year I was born. Then the other day I recieved some bad news from my doctor so I time traveled 20 years forward to say I did live to see 20 years from now.

I only lost tex and needed a new hairdo but I am back to todays date and I get to live to tell about it.

I TT in small doses. If I kept to real time, I would only end up playing late at night, so I would miss anything that happens in morning and afternoon, like certain fishes that only appear in morning or events that happen during the day, not to mention all the shops are closed at night!

Having said all that, I would caution you about heavy TTing. I did that in City Folk, and while I ended up with villagers I wanted, etc., after a while I felt detached from my town. Like it wasn't my town any more if that makes sense. Some people don't struggle with this at all, but if you are like me, you might need to "go slow" to really enjoy the game.

Well, try it both ways. I was able to reconnect with my town by just stop TTing. Villagers moved in and out at a slow pace, I chatted with each villager more, did events super slowly, and then I felt like it was my town again. Reconnecting with your town is not that hard. :)

I do it in my main town with all of my dreamies and cute villagers but not so much my second town. My main town is more for decorating, having fun, and working on goals. I have the same idea with my second town but I'm searching for a good set of 5 starter villagers and then doing whatever I feel like in the town that day. It's all about having fun to me :).
