What knowledge would you share with someone who's getting into AC with New Horizons?

Asking because this will be my first Animal Crossing game :D

I want to discover things organically but I'm very excited about it so it's often in my mind. I started to avoid videos about details because it's too much spoiler for me.

Yesterday I saw a post that mentioned resetting to get a certain fruit in the island and it got me thinking whether this would be something important that I'd regret not knowing from the beginning.

So...
What is the essential you would like to know, if this was your first Animal Crossing game, to have the best mix of organic discovery and not missing out on opportunities?

It?s a pretty straight forward game you don?t need much information to get into it. Most if not all things people reset for are based on aesthetics alone.

Here is why people reset for fruits in New Leaf (this mechanic might come into play in New Horizons also) Added a spoiler in case you don?t want to know (it?s mostly just aesthetic)
There are different fruit types, people like to reset for their favorite. But no matter what fruit you get you will still be able to plant the other fruit types (you?ll just have to trade for them or sometimes villagers will give you different fruits in game.) There really isn?t an advantage to having one fruit over another though, it?s just aesthetics.

In New Leaf (the 3DS game) they introduced a thing called ?perfect fruit? Each fruit type had a perfect version. So there are Perfect Apples, Perfect Pears, Perfect Oranges, etc. These have different coloration from the regular fruit (though Perfect Oranges have a different shape as well) and sell for a lot more than their regular counterparts. However, you can only grow perfect version of the fruit native to your town. So if your native town is cherry you can?t grow perfect pears (burying a perfect pear will just yield a regular pear) Because of this mechanic people tried to reset for the fruit they thought would make their town look best.

And here is why you might want to reset for fruit in New Horizons. Spoiler if you haven?t watched the directs.
There is some speculation that you?ll be able to craft certain item sets based on your native fruit. So for example if you have cherries you?ll be able to craft some cherry themed items. This is just speculation and hasn?t been confirmed, it?s mostly just going off what we have seen in the directs and whatnot
