What makes you like/hate the villagers you like/hate?

Tbh before I used here, I never really considered importance of that many of the villagers, I mean I liked some cos of how they looked, but mostly, I just got on with it without much care to which villagers I had.

What makes certain villagers that important for you that you must have them and would even pay up to 30m bells to get them?

I like the ones that look cute. I also like the Normal, Smug, and Snooty villagers.

Appearance.
I don't really mind any personality in the game and there are only like eight personalities so I pick the ones that look the best out of those

I definitely have a soft spot for the cranky ones. Reason being that I fell in love with them when I played AC:WW. Rolf, Cyrano, Hopper, I thought they were fabulous! I enjoyed interacting with them so much. In NL, their personalities have been watered down (I really wouldn't call them cranky anymore) but I still love them so, yeah, I'm never letting Rolf or Apollo or Avery leave.

On the subject of paying for villagers, I wouldn't. I prefer to take it slow and easy and let the game throw whatever villager it wants to throw at me. I want to meet every single animal in the game!

I love Agent S because she awesome I mean one she's a super hero two she's a total fashionista three she's so adorable I just want to hug her all day!

I like villagers only because of their appearance, or if I had them before in other games. That's why Kody and Peanut are my dreamies, I had Peanut in GC, and Kody in CF.

My opinions are based solely on appearances. If they're cool, cute, or pretty I like them. Of course, it's all subjective though. I feel like I'm the only one in the world that thinks Rizzo is a major cutie.

I think that if it's in my control, appearances definitely have a pretty significant factor to it.
That's kind of what I miss from the older games. Once you hit 9, you can't get anymore people randomly. :\
I guess that's why their actions aren't as heavily weighted anymore when you first get them, because in the older games, if you're nice to me, or you're quirky, I like you.

That's just my two cents about it.

I enjoy villagers that look like the personality they have.
i.e.: I love Alfonso because he looks very lazy with his "lazy eyes", which matches his personality.
Same with Mitzi, who looks very kind and welcoming, matching the personality of the Normal villager.

Appearance and personality makes it. Usually took a while until I like a villager that doesn't look as good....

Also, voices. Villagers with cute voices than deep ones are more favorable to me~

I don't hate any of my current villagers. I used to have some annoyance with Ken, because of his habit of selling me fake Redd art, but he's been selling me real stuff lately, so he's redeeming himself. He just have to give me his picture and I'll be really happy with him.

As far as like, I would like Ankha eventually because I'm a cat person and I find ancient Egyptian stuff fascinating. I also had her on the island on the Gamecube game. I am not willing to pay millions of bells for her though. I'll just wait until/if she shows up in my campsite. Hey, I got Bob that way.

I like Bob a lot too. I think I'm partly attached to Bob because I had him in both Gamecube and WW and because he's a cat. But I think his lazy personality reminds me of cats I had when I was a kid.

Like what almost everyone has said: Appearance. There has to be something interesting about them. More so with jock and lazies, as they're my least favourite personality. I currently don't have a jock, because they annoy me. So I'll need a jock with a very appealing look. They don't need to be cute - actually cute doesn't really suit the jocks. They just have to interest me in some way and the looks/personality combo has to be convincing. Otherwise they cause a conflict in my fragile little mind...

I only like the villagers when they say stuff that is purely ridiculous or adorable, I suffer from laughter XDDD If they didn't, well I don't like 'em because they're plain boring villagers.

I only hate villagers that are absolutely repulsive-looking, while I like the ones that are the cutest or most-unique.
