A lot of things villagers do make me smile constantly every time I catch them doing something. I love how expressive villagers are now and overall how they're much more aware of their surroundings, and how they interact with the world around them. They feel very much alive.
Villagers look around as they walk, observe flowers, sit under trees or by the river contemplating life, read a book, greet each other, and in general are so easily distracted by the wonders of life, such as a butterfly or grasshopper ☺
I really enjoy the little details such as pigs and dogs' ears flopping about as they move their head, how villagers follow you with their eyes, the tail waggles of anteaters, chickens, squirrels... It's just so cute!
Some of the things they do were already introduced in NL, such as actively trying to catch bugs and interacting with PWPs (and now furniture placed outside) but NH took it to a whole other level which I really appreciated.

The expressions really are wonderful. Some do them better than others. Like for me, Punchy and Rudy are the best in their class at expressions (though Kiki’s mischief is great

I don’t have any screenshots with them playing, but I feel like the play activity especially also gives them some life and also the nature hobby. I think all of them to a degree but some do more than others.
