I was outside in animal crossing then i saw my friend:Sterling and i went to
talk to him and his like animal saying thing was ribbete. WHAT THE!
I said to my self. doesnt gigi say that? so i went to talk to gigi and her
animal phrase was ribette too.. I thought sterling's phrase is
skraawwwwww! or something like that

Yeah... they pick it up from each other. Just wait till your least favorite catch phrase is the one that catches on. I was changing one character's, and the one I wanted to give them was too long. I thought for a minute and couldn't think of anything cool, so I decided I'd just change it to something temporarily and fix it next time they asked. Within a week, every animal in my town had caught on to THAT catchphrase. UGH

I ended up having to go to town hall and reporting them all for being rude so they'd revert back to their original sayings.

Yeah like everyone else said, they copy what each other say. That's why sometimes giving rude sayings to them is dangerous
