Ngl i'd say a good majority of the villagers slayed with their fashion choices but some were a little more... questionable

I might be a little biased with this one but Chow truly did himself no favours by giving himself this t shirt to wear. Mans may have felt like gold but he defo wasn't looking like gold

I'm alright with most of the default outfit changes, but some are a bit unusual to me (though I don't hate any):

Biskit_NH.png

Biskit is a dog wearing a cat shirt. His previous default outfit was rather boring (blue gradient shirt), but there really wasn't anything better? I will admit however that his picture/poster does look cool.

Chief_NH.png

I understand why Chief has a pink scarf (it matches his ears perfectly), but his red and white bar shirt was a classic and didn't need to be changed in my opinion.

Colton_NH_2.png

I've grown used to Colton's default outfit, but his Prince's Tunic makes him resemble a young hero in a kid's play.

Jacob_NH.png

Jacob's jacket does not fit his personality or style.

Pecan_NH.png

I much prefer Pecan's red check tee over her current outfit.

Phoebe_NH.png

I actually like Phoebe's default outfit, but her old flame shirt was so cool and I wish she kept it, as that shirt is still in the game.

Queenie_NH.png

Queenie looks like she's ready for bed, honestly.

I liked when the sheep wore scarves rather than shirts, the way they wear them look like they stretched their shirts out too much.
Most of the clothes look fine on villagers, but there are a few exceptions:

Ketchup looks like she's wearing clothes that look more suitable for hanging around at home as loungewear.

Lucky should have been wearing a mummy shirt, that's a greatly missed opportunity right there.

Wade looks like he's wearing little kid's clothing.

Candi's outfit doesn't match her appearance nor her personality type.

I agree that fashion crimes have been committed in ACNH:

I gave Jacob the red and yellow down ski jacket. It looks like it was made just for him.

I gave Ketchup the Tomato Festival Tee.A tomato tee for a tomato duck.

Why WAS Lucky given a colored shirt as his default? Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense considering he’s covered in bandages and it wouldn’t hurt at all to give him a mummy shirt. It’s not like people would complain that he’s “not wearing anything”. What’s more unusual is the color choice of said shirt. Yellow would have made some sense considering his exposed eye, but for some reason he was given a red shirt. I’m at least alright with the fact that it’s plain-colored, but eh.

I was extremely disappointed that Lucky was wearing that red shirt.

The recycling of some old Gracie shirts such as:

versus

If we could have both, then I’d be fine with the hot dog costume, but I really like the hot dog shirt more.

No Sandwich shirt or other Gracie shirts (some like the blue and red argyle shirts were recycled and made into an able sister’s product).

Not being able to put our custom pro designs on mannequins, furniture or anything like we could in Nl and HHD.

Also these — All of the patterns we’re given (not just the ones in the screenshot).

what they did to the sheep villagers, by far #bringbackthescarves
Omg I have been saying this since it was first revealed that the sheep villagers have shirts! They look so deflated😭 I loved their scarves, they looked so cute. And it made sense bc they all have wool so that’s basically clothing!

I have to agree the sheep either need their scarves back or make the shirt extremely short because of their fluff ;-; they were so fluffy before
Why not both? I personally believe shirts were needed so that certain outfits would look better, but the scarves could've also been used with one of Sable's patterns or with a custom design. I was not really a fan of sheep villagers in the earlier games due to them just having the patterned scarves, but there's still potential to bring them back to more than just this villager type specifically.

Wade looks like he's wearing little kid's clothing.
THANK YOU why does he wear that. I have him on my island and he's adorable, but the fact they change back to their default is fustrating.

I also really hate Twiggys default clothing. It looks soooo bad, makes her look so bloated as well. It just doesn't suit her.
Tempting to make her leave but she's my drama villager DX

I forgot that the sheep used to only wear scarves, so K.K can be naked buy sheep can't?

I wish they had something in place to let you choose if they can change back to their default. Like you know how we go to Isabelle if we don't like what they're saying, they should have one for don't like what they're wearing regarding default clothes.

lowkey it was julian’s galaxy hoodie for me… he was one of my favorites and now i get ptsd from those popular galaxy leggings every time i look at him LOL

I think the biggest crime of all is not having GracieGrace in New Horizons. The fashion world needs her!
I have a feeling that if Gracie came back instead of having her role partly taken over by Label, then her picky attitude would have to receive a major overhaul in order to not come off as a judgmental jerk to the casual audience, and believe me, a game like this in today’s world doesn’t need that. Ultimately, it was best to simply have Label do everything, as it is already established from the previous games that she’s not a hard critic and won’t make fun of anyone regardless of how adventurous an outfit.

What I would have supported, however, is if Label invited Gracie to an island for “real” fashion checks after completing several easier ones, and if passed, would result in a sizable reward such as a store upgrade. Again, it’s simply more missed potential compared to what we got in previous games.

I think if there's any reason for Gracie not appearing in NH other than "her picky attitude would have to receive a major overhaul" (as if she wasn't much nicer in NL than she was in the previous three games), it's probably her Japanese characterisation that presents an issue: https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Gracie#Gender_and_characterization_in_Japan

Oh yeah, that too. Saharah is also considered a male in Japan and South Korea, but that character made it into the game. Considering that Saharah’s gender does not play a factor at all into what their role is compared to Gracie (somewhat), I can see why the latter was left out.
