Hi All! I am a new player and was randomly assigned Tammy as my sisterly villager. She's okay but a little rude tbh. If I talk to her more than once per day, she's like, "What, is this island not big enough for the two of us?"
um, wow, Tammy. Was that really necessary?

Also, Cousteau (who was the absolutely only Jock that I wanted and I LOVE him - SO lucky to have been randomly given my top choice!), said that she told him he talks too much about his exercise routine. And there was something else that she criticized him about too. Girlfriend needs to back off of Cousteau! He's so cute! And HE is actually nice to me and happy to see me. Just saying.

That all said, I have given her gifts, etc. and figured that maybe that's just her style and she might soften up a bit as the game goes on. I'm going to try to make this work. I think that's part of the fun of the game, getting villagers that you might not have been your top choices. I picked my 1st additional three by villager shopping, so there was a bit of picking, but I did not find any of the ones I really wanted, and finally just picked 3 that I didn't hate. lol. They'll have to do and hopefully they'll grow on me. When my daughter started, she didn't know about villager shopping so she got totally random villagers. None are anyone she would have chosen, but out of all of them, she only wanted to trade Quillson. She loves all of the rest of the ones that the game gave her.

But back to Tammy, I am interested in hearing other people's experiences with Tammy. Good? Bad? Is she usually prickly or is it just the Sisterly type? My daughter got Frita, whom she loves, but she can't remember if at first Frita was less friendly than she is now. Maybe Tammy will grow on me? What have you found in your own game?
Thanks!! :)

Tammy was my starter! I think it’s just the uchi personality dialogue. I think all of the characters have some variation of saying “you’re talking to me too much”. Hers might just come across a little rude. I personally didn’t mind as I knew her personality type already. I have a different uchi character now (Phoebe) and it’s the same.

I had Tammy in 2020 and she's one of my favorite Uchi/Sisterly villagers since New Leaf.

While it may come across as a little rude, it's just how this personality is written in this game. Regardless of villager, most personality-specific dialogue are shared by villagers of the same sub-type. So Tammy's dialogue will be no different than Quinn's, Reneigh's or Plucky's. I'm best friends with Tammy and she still said that occasionally.

As nyanicat have said above, villagers will get more annoyed when talked to repeatedly but you really don't lose any friendship points even if you exhaust their dialogue.

In fact, it's best to keep talking to them because the more you are friends with them, they will sometimes ask for favors, ask for a home visit, or ask to play a treasure hunt which further increases their friendship when completed. They also even sometimes give you clothes.

tammy was my starter sisterly villager as well, and i had a lovely experience with her! she seemed uninterested in talking to me as well when we first met, and would dismiss me after the 3rd or 4th time i’d talk to her, but that went away as time went on and our friendship improved. sisterly villagers will always be a bit brash and prickly with you as that’s just their personality, but they do soften up over time. ^^

I have Tammy right now. I think she is super cute. All the sisterly/uchi villagers talk like that. I think they are joking with us when they talk that way. Once you get to know them by talking to them a lot, they warm up and start complimenting you. However, they are always a bit more blunt than the normal/sweet villagers. My advice is to give Tammy gifts of wrapped non native fruit stacks. That will make her a happy friendly sisterly villager.

There type a and type b to each personality so maybe that will explain this:
Sylvia is the sisterly purple kangaroo and she was always nice. I spoke to her often and I think she was the nicest sisterly I ran into. Shari who is the sisterly monkey was rude in my first playthrough of acnh. I like both villagers, but Shari was always kinda cranky. Shari is my favorite sisterly, I find her sassy.

I have Shari now in a different playthrough. She wasn't my first sisterly this time and she's nicer. But I also have more villagers to talk to this time so idk.

I didn't know there were A and B types within each personality type. That's really interesting. I wonder if it is assigned randomly for each character (so that Shari might be type A in one game but type B in another) or if each character is always A or B. Shari is one that I really like actually. She's so cute!

Thanks! I'll try the fruit idea. I gave her a pink balloon because one was on sale in the nook shop and I read online that she likes cute pink things, but she was only like, "Oh thanks." Maybe she'll like the non-native fruit better. Cousteau has been thrilled with everything I've given him so far and has given me several gifts so far. Tammy has given me one gift - a portable radio that the game me as a default and I sold, then Cousteau gave me another one, and then Tammy gave me a third. I guess the game REALLY wants me to have a portable radio. lol

The subtypes aren't randomly assigned, they are the same in everyone's games. A Type A is always going to be a Type A, and a Type B is always going to be a Type B.

This Google Doc is outdated, as you'll notice that it doesn't include the new and returning villagers that were added alongside the Happy Home Paradise DLC and update, but you can otherwise see which villagers are which subtype for everyone else.

No matter what villager personality you get its always going to be the same as each other. I know its hard to believe but if you got like say 4 lazy villagers all of them will repeat and talk the same way as each other.

Good to know! Thanks. :)

I'll take a look at the list. Sounds interesting!

I have noticed this with my daughter's game. She has 2 peppies and 2 lazies and they do have some repeat dialog. I have to say though, overall I'm impressed with how much new dialog there actually is. The makers of the game seem to really go all out with keeping the experience fairly fresh. Plus, the way they interact with each other adds another layer of interest and variation. This is partly what intrigued me to play myself, the fun of seeing what my own experience with these little critters would be.

I think the dialogue she says is a main factor why many cranky or uchi villagers have a bad rep. If you take their messages with a pinch of salt they truly do enjoy your company and living on the island! ☺️

I dislike snooty villagers for being rude. I don’t have any on my island and I also don’t like uchi villagers. I don’t mind the cranky villagers because they’re not rude to me.

That dialog is just the sisterly way...which is weird, because it's HARDLY sisterly. Pashmina and Charlise did it to me when I had them and it actually made me resent them both lol. Well, as much as is reasonable to resent a digital character I suppose. Anyway, my advice is find a sisterly you really WANT to like and look at them like a big sister. Mine is Reneigh - I was worried I wouldn't like her based on my previous sisterly interaction, but I wanted to like her sooo bad. I restrained myself to only talking to her once a day, or twice a day but far apart from eachother. She seems to like this best! And now I have a sisterly I love.

Thank you. I agree with you. I'm not taking it personally since everyone on here says it's just the personality type and not Tammy specifically. And she has given me a present and said she enjoys the island, so I think you're right. It's just the dialogue. :)

My only experience with snootys is Judy the bear cub, who is on my daughter's island. That particular one is very nice. I LOVE the cranky villagers. They're my favorite. I think they're charming and funny. :D

I'm trying to give Tammy a chance, but to honest, I don't love her look. I tend to not care for the ones with eye shadow that makes them look like the snarky, self-satisfied popular girl stereotype from teen movies. I would love Katt or Agnes tbh. We'll see what happens over time. My island is still young and isn't even fully populated, so there's plenty of time to tweak my villager population later. I'm eager to see who my smug will be! :)
