I have spent four days on this, four days on using the campsite trick to bring this boy into my life.
I still can't believe I finally found him, it honestly started to feel like I might never find him, or like when I finally did I'd resent him for all the villagers I let slip past before him but... nope.
I love him as much as I did when I first started this entire endeavor, and I will never stop.
My Personal Reason For Wanting Him...I still can't believe I finally found him, it honestly started to feel like I might never find him, or like when I finally did I'd resent him for all the villagers I let slip past before him but... nope.

I have a friend that is very dear to me, they are one of my favorite people, and about the only friend I've ever been able to keep. We've known each other for seven years now, maybe longer, and it was only last year that we were finally able to meet, because they live overseas.
To give some perspective on how long this friendship has been going, we met on Deviantart back when Deviantart was a popular art platform not overrun by ridicule and memes, from there we moved to tumblr, then skype, and now discord... that is how long we've been able to maintain our acquaintanceship, despite having ups and downs and our own personal issues to sort through, we've stayed friends for a very long time.
What does that have to do with Raymond? Well, he reminds me of them, he reminds me of them to the point where even before coming back to bell tree or really knowing how much people adored him, I just, wanted him around, because to me, he's them.
They've been looking for him since I told them that he's them as an AC villager too so if ever he decides to move and I'm ready for it then I'll definitely be sending him their way, no question.

I saw all but five of the smug villagers (including Raymond) until I finally found this little deviant, with a few other villagers mixed in and well... here's most of 'em.
AAAAAAAAND
... with a few others mixed in like Quilson, Hippeaux, and so on and so forth that I didn't get screen caps of.

Sorry boys and girls but, saying my goodbyes to Marshall really wasn't any love lost, I have him in my New Leaf town and the worst of it really only was that I didn't get to give him away like I originally planned. I really wanted to, but the problem is that there's a lot of dishonesty I've been seeing going around and if I'd ended up sending him to someone who was just looking to sell him, that would've really made me exuberantly disappointed. I didn't really have the time to scope out who might've genuinely been looking for him, so I unfortunately, for my own comfort, let him head back home.
The ones that were hard to say goodbye to for me were these guys.
Moe is my boy, and I could've taken him if I'd had the room to give but, unfortunately, I really just didn't. As some may know from my unpopular villager board I have bad teeth, my mouth was too small for them and the two front ones grew in backwards, and its something I'd been teased and bullied about frequently as a child, its something that still causes me to feel self-conscious and socially anxious, even though its not something I was in control of, and not something I can afford to fix when its purely cosmetic. Moe is a comfort because of this, because a lot of people don't like his teeth either, and so his character design and he himself are very special to me. It was really hard not to accept him and put off Raymond for a little while longer but unfortunately, all of my villagers current are precious babies, so I couldn't fathom replacing any of them right now.
Pietro is my son, and I would go to the ends of the earth for him. He was one of the very first I saw and he nearly stopped the game for me because I had him prior to this in my first ever New Leaf town (to which I've lost the cartridge for rip) and just really genuinely love him. I like sheep, I have a love hate relationship towards clowns, and I just, really, really wanted to tell him yes, because I missed him so much. He also happens to have the same name as Quicksilver from XMEN who is one of my favorite super heroes that inspired another of my favorite super heroes, but I digress. I eventually gathered up the mustard to tell him goodbye, but, it was really difficult to do so. Really love this guy, maybe I'll buy his amiibo card some day if I ever get my job back, same with Moe.
There's something about Shep I really love, and it confuses me that people don't talk about him that much. I've never had a dog villager in any of the games and I have always kind of wanted one, especially when my town current is failing at some diversity with all of it's wolves (... there's three now but I'll explain that in a second). It was harder than most of the others to say sayonara to him, he's a really cool pup, one of my favorites because to me he stands out against most of 'em aside from maybe Marcel or Lucky whom I also really love but thankfully didn't see during this ordeal.
Kyle looks like a hyena and hyenas are my favorite animals.
That's... that's it.
I really love hyenas guys.
There were some nice things to happen along the way...The ones that were hard to say goodbye to for me were these guys.

The one villager, the single villager I could not pass up, the only villager I made an exception for enough for him to take Olaf's place for a little while since I do own Olaf's amiibo card to get him back any time I want...
... was this guy. Yep. I kept Wolfgang. He's not a smug so he wasn't going to interfere with my Raymond quest and also, he ties into my friendship with the person I spoke of earlier too. He has the same name as an OC of their's for the game Detroit Become Human, but acts, has a house akin to, and wears an identical jacket to a character we ship the OC with. He's a conundrum boy and someone I always hoped I'd find on an island but never did. I was very lucky to find him like I did here, given I already have a cranky, two wolves, and it could've been literally anyone in that campsite that day. I am blessed by his doggo presence for sure.
The other thing that happened is that Dobie visited Kitty for the first time ever, my wee heart was so happy about this, its ridiculous but I really ship these two, cringe if you please but I mean look at them, how can you not. Seeing them spend time together like this was refreshing after a long while of not being able to really interact with any of my villagers beyond checking on them to make sure they didn't have colds and were still feeling loved enough for me to continue my adventure. I am going to be so happy to get back into it with all of them finally.

I used one I concocted on my own through a series of reading other people's suggestions and mixing them to make a sure fire way that worked for me beautifully ^ ^
Who'd I have Raymond move out?Hello!
I have been casually working on Raymond for the past three days and I figured a little insight might be useful to folks who want to do this too!
*You DO get more of the villager type that you don't currently have! (I have NO smugs so I've been finding every smug under the sun, I am down to only eight I haven't met yet, Raymond being one of them)
*You DO still occasionally see other villagers too but its less than the personality you're missing for sure! ( I saw Moe, saddest moment of my personal search for sure, gosh darn soft spot I have for lazies I swear).
My Method!
1. Go to the first of the next month; In this case, May
2. Check in with Isabelle, if she doesn't say anything about a camper, leave to the main menu, shut the game off, and go to the next day.
3. Repeat this within a 15 day time span until a villager shows up (usually they will show up within those fifteen days, I've only had it once where they didn't, I'll explain what to do if they don't.)
4. Visit the campsite to see which villager it is, check in with your villagers if you'd like
*(pull weeds because boy will they get arduous if you don't take the time to do so now.)
5. If its not the villager you want, save, close the game again, and TT seven days out.
6. Check in with Isabelle, if she doesn't say anything about a camper, close the game, go back to the 1st and start again.
**FOR FIFTEEN DAYS WITHOUT A CAMPER : just go back to the 1st after the fifteen days are up and start the process again, easy ovo
When you Find One!
1. When you find the camper you want make sure to save the first time you speak to them, and every time you win a game with them after, just in case you end up with the move-in game.
2. Play the move-in game so long as you saved before it, if you win and they pick a villager you don't want to move out, or if you lose, shut the game off, come back in, play again.
3. They will pick a different random villager each time.
4. Keep doing this ridiculously difficult task until they pick the villager you want to see leave and viola : D
Fifteen days is a lot more manageable than going through an entire month or year or what have you trust me, and like I said, I've only ever had it ONCE where I made it through the fifteen without a camper so... I definitely recommend this over any other method
Good Luck!

I'm sorry... she and I just didn't get along. Uchis are a hard sell for me on their personality, and while she isn't a villager you can get through amiibos I just, didn't really have a drive to keep her anymore like I did the rest. I initially loved her as one of my first ever villagers but then, in the end, I just wasn't vibing well with her anymore, she just wasn't really an enticing personality for me, and I feel bad about it, but I had to decide to let her be the one to leave. Raymond must've known that was the plan because, after winning every game for items of his and then finally winning the move-in game, she was the first villager he asked after, which was extremely helpful. Cudos to this smart boy.
I don't know what I'm going to do with all of my extra NMT's, maybe I'll do a giveaway at some point, maybe I'll use them to buy art or items I need from other people, who knows. I have quite a few saved up from before I started on this method so, I'll think about what I should go about doing with them, maybe buy Kiki for my younger sister if I can find her at a reasonable price. We'll see?
All I know is, I'm glad I persevered, there were a few times where I considered throwing in the towel but, I didn't, and I'm very happy with the end result. It was a long time coming, 38 smugs is nothing to sneeze at when you get down to only 5 between you and an intellectual heterochromatic cat so, I'm very very excited to finally welcome him home and get back to working on the island.
So very excited \q v q/
( I gotta fix my signature again ugh >>)
