I was away for a few months and came back and the first thing I said was oh my god what the heck happened with popsicles and ice cream swirls??!

Last time I was on here the hardly sold for any tbt, now they're selling for thousands 0_0

So my question is...What happened, and when!

I think it all started when two or three people were aggressively searching for popsicles and continuously raised their offers which then affected the "guide prices." Now there's even a "team" for the popsicle collectible which helps hype up the popularity. Popsicles are colorful/have nice bg that match with many other collectibles for a pretty lineup so I think it's easy to draw new people to collecting them as well. Plus there are inactive/hoarders with popsicles so it's hard to find a lot? Swirls were raised a bit during the popsicle wave but it doesn't seem to be as popular for some reason.

oh what the heck 0_0 nobody gave a hoot about popsicles when I was last on here XD they would go for like a hundred or two, if I'm remembering prices correctly.

Oh and thanks for the responses. I guess when they're being demanded so aggressively, the price is bound to go up a ton (which it definitely has)

If they were gotten from an event, I'd imagine the prices would go up the farther behind us the event got...especially if it's a yearly event.

I blame Team Popcicle!!!! >:0
(kidding, but they really could've played into the price increase. Not to mention, it was a one time even thing, so that also could've been a factor)

True, the fact that they weren't restocked this year is a big factor I think.

I see what you're saying about how the longer it's been the higher the price will be, but like wow the price really just skyrocketed. I've been a pretty regular member for awhile now and I've rarely seen something shoot up like that  In light of the information about "team popsicle" it seems like it has been related to the demand

or a combination of that and the no restock. but either way I'm satisfied to not be completely clueless anymore. lol

It all started when I was on the hunt for 10 popsicles in July. I was able to purchase 5 I believe for 300-600 tbt each, then it started getting harder to find since more people were also looking to buy popsicles, thus we were all raising our prices trying to get the popsicles we wanted. (Supply and Demand :') ) Buddy and I were helping each other out trying to find popsicles back then, I helped him get his 5 first then, I started to get the 10 I wanted. (I love the popsicles so much <33 They are my #1 favorite collectible)

The hunt for popsicles back when I was hunting for it was pretty crazy, because once someone posted something saying they'll sell their popsicle to someone, everyone would rush to VM/PM that user to try to get it first. As more people wanted popsicles, the prices started to increase. (Note: Team Popsicle wasn't created until a few days/week after Buddy and I got the popsicles we wanted) Though the highest it increased during that time was 1.5k ish, then a few weeks later it increased to 2k and highest I saw was 3k after another few weeks.

Popsicles were recently sold and bought for 4k a couple of days ago (not by me)

But anyways, I do have to say that Buddy and I were a major part of the price increase for popsicles, especially since we made "Team Popsicle" a thread that's currently in the Basement.

I do hope mods consider a restock for popsicles since I definitely want to buy more to giveaway to members in Team Popsicle :')

450 were stocked of each, but back then, they were plentiful for the amount of members at the time
The Christmas Event is taking over the Fair and the Fair is taking over the Summer event, so hopefully you mods consider a small re-release of the Summer Treats as there probably won't be an event for Summer ;D

This is why many collectible prices go up so much:

People seriously need to learn how to Auction xD

There's no rule saying how much one person can offer in an auction... so I don't exactly see what the problem is in your spoiler pic. Why waste time going back and forth with minimum bid increments especially when you know the price won't stay low for a popular collectible.

Anyways, the popsicles probably went up in price due to the awesomesauce ^^ popsicle group and members wanting to own one to join and also because despite the fact 450 were distributed for each, there were many people who bought 5+ so 450 isn't actually that much. As time went by, more and more people with popsicles became inactive and hence the rarity, I'm sure many of the popsicles are collecting dust in inactive member's inventory.

However, many inactive members do come back to the forums during the holidays and summer/winter break so it's possible we might see some more popsicles for sale. (Hopefully)

There's no particular problem with it, but the end thing is you DON'T know 100% FOR SURE if a price in an auction will stay low or not, no matter how "in demand" the item might be. People might be asleep, people might not be looking at that forum at the time, or people might even overlook the thread. Lots of factors might play into it. So it's possible it *could* go cheap. Going from a small bid straight to a large bid is ridiculous anyway, as you may not even have had to bid that much to win. Simple economics. You always want to pay the least amount you can, but instantly bidding a large amount when the last bid was so small? Ludicrous.

Just my thought on it. I'm not real big on collectibles, so meh.

if i wanted an item bad enough i'd skip the minimum bid and go for the kill. why meddle in redundant posts when you can skyrocket your bid and have a better chance of beating out people who physically can't outbid you? why play in the kiddie pool with 10btb increments when you post for over 1k when LOTS of people don't have over a few hundred btb? it's not "some people don't know how to auction" it's some people are willing sacrifice more than you. :^)

Jeez, remind me not to post an opinion anymore. I wasn't arguing about it lol.
You both made valid points, and I obviously look at the issue from a different but also valid angle...but I just feel like you guys were jumping down my throat about it. xD

I'll quietly see myself out of the thread. Good day to you all :)

we weren't jumping down your throat, you made a comment about someone in which seemed a little rude claiming people don't know how an auction works. and we explained in their defense that there's no set rules to an auction other than... you outbid the previous person. be it by 10btb or by 1000btb the concept stays the same. not trying to come off as rude or lay claim that you can't have an opinion.
