Where is welcome amibo & n3ds

I was able to put in my 3ds code, but I have an new 3dsxl which requires a *nickname* (sort of like on the Wii u). Also ACNL Welcome Amibo can only play with those who have the same game (?_?). We can't play with regular ACNL players. Where is the check box to say I have Welcome Amibo & where (?_?) can I put my nickname

I think just about everyone active online here has the welcome amiibo update now, so a checkbox would be relatively useless

also the new 3ds uses friend codes too, so idk wth you're talking about there

I don't think there are very many active players who still play the old version. Why would they, when the free update is superior? So it's not going to limit your online play. And don't you create a nickname when you create your mii? I think you can just put you Nintendo ID and use the same mii information as the Wii U?
