This applies to pre-NL games. I personally love Nook 'n' Go, it's so cute, and it's just such a good concept. I love the size, lighting, color scheme, and the signpole! One thing I adore about City Folk is that you can change which store you have.
To be honest, my favorite is Nook's Cranny. I love how simple and homey it feels. I'm not a big fan of the convenience store or fancy department store looks in the game. I like that they offer more items, so I upgrade for that reason alone, but I prefer the simple comfort of the original stores.
I've always liked Nookingtons better than the other ones, probably because it's much bigger and has a lot more to sell and offer. Grant it, it's harder to get in some games, but it's all worth the effort to get it open.
I always thought that was pretty nifty. Interesting that they decided not to bring it back though. I thought it was nice to be able to choose which store you wanted since they all have strengths (Nook n Go is open til like 1am, for instance).
Nookingtons probably! I love the whole department store feel, it has a wide variety of items and the aesthetic of the store is really nice too - though I’ll always have a place in my heart for Nook’s Cranny as it feels so nostalgic and pure Animal Crossing to me <3

I think Nookway is my favorite. In my old City Folk town I would usually swap between that and Nookingtons. I just like the grocery store aesthetic and the music is quite relaxing. Maybe I also like it for the fact that it shows up so briefly in Gamecube. Since there's no way to get it back in Gamecube after you upgrade to Nookingtons. Therefore it never gets old for me in that game.
Definitely Nook N Go. Despite the store not having as many goods as Nookway and Nookington's, it is open from 7 AM - 11 PM on the GC version, 8 AM - 11 PM on WW, and even more in City Folk 7 AM - 1 AM. Plus I really like the atmosphere of Nook N Go.
This makes it much more convenient to be playing later at night, which I usually do when it comes to catching fish and then selling them right away.
i like nookingtons in cf for the overall aesthetic and the pretty dress in the window i will never buy haha. However, i was not aware you could change up which model you had in cf. Do you know if thats just region limited or is it in all the games (because the australian/european copy is called lets go to the city i was wondering if that changed the aspect)
Nook 'n' Go is my favourite but Nookway is a close second. I like the colour schemes and vibes alot. Nook's Cranny is good as a 'bad' first store but it doesn't have much personality in my opinion and I dislike the colour scheme and music (in New Leaf) of Nookingtons.
I think I tend to prefer the third variations, so Nookway for Tom and T.I.Y. for Tommy and Timmy. Nookingtons and T&T Emporium are really convenient with the additional floors, having more items, etc. but I just like the way the Nookway and T.I.Y. look better than their successors.
My favorite is Nookington's simply because it includes all unlocked goods and more to choose from. I like Nook's Cranny, too for nostalgic reasons and the layout reminds me of a comfty little shack.
Nookway because my local supermarket had a very similar colour scheme, and I reminisce about playing Population Growing and then heading there to pick up snacks in the evenings.
In regards to Wild World which is the only AC game I played apart from NL, I did really like Nookway! I liked how the name reminded me of Subway xD
I could never get Nookingtons because i didn't have internet or anyone to come into my town, thus meaning I never got to meet Harriet until NL!
