I know it's kind of scummy to cheat but with normal gameplay, it takes a long time to accumulate rare art pieces - especially since the game doesn't prevent repeats. I have been loading up a day where he's present, saving, loading up the next day, saving, loading up the day he appears - etc. It seems like he's pulling from the same "bank" of pieces and it's starting to loop. I have purchased 3 Familiar Statues from Redd and I haven't gotten the Beautiful Statue once. Do you think the game assigns you a certain selection of real and fake art and shuffles them for every Redd visit? Or do you think the selection would change if I found a day he arrives in December and did the same time loop trick?

As soon as I would see him arrive I would go straight to google to see the guide on what was real and fake but whenever he came it was always fake so I got sick of it and just ended up buying all the things I needed from the stores online here so in the end I didn’t even end up buying from him haha
I am sure many people are likely not of the same opinion as me, but I (and my bit of OCD) genuinely likes spreading out the donation dates across all of the items that Blathers accepts in the Museum.
Ever since April 2020, I have selected a random day each to donate one fish and one bug and then I have expanded it out in July 2020 once Wetsuits were made available to include one Sea Creature.
I have been purchasing Art from Redd in real-time whenever he has docked his ship and then donating it the next day.
I have a site bookmarked where I can see if artwork is real or fake, but I only check when Blathers confirms a fake.
I do this, too. I'm convinced Redd's selection isn't truly random, but has fixed 'rarities' to each artwork which is generated when the island is created.
So not only is Redd likely to carry all fakes, you also have to deal with screwed odds!
