disregarding chai, & dizzy, cause they're so cute ^^

but even so... they're mouths are weirdly placed...

you'd think that chai's mouth would be placed like tia's mouth is.... dizzy... & mira too for that matter...

I agree with this sentiment. As much as I like Megan and Eugene's designs, their mouths simply puts me off. Which is why I refrained from inviting even though I really want to. It's a dilemma.

Yeah I noticed that with Cherry since she does have a side mouth. Like when I talk to her from the other side she looks like she has no mouth. Kinda weird with the design choice, but still I like how she looks.

i've noticed that megan's mouth isn't weird :>

I thought their mouths were a bit weird. I find Megan cute, though, but that may be because of her mouth. I don’t pay much attention to the mouth designs if I like a villager. If I love a villager, I wouldn’t dismiss them due to their design.

The only villagers that don't have a mouth are Octopus villagers and another villager by the name "Coco" since I always thought she looked like a Gyroid.

I find the octopus villagers weird. I only slightly like Octavian, but not enough for him to ever be in my town. That thing that happened with the Gamecube version always creeped me out, where your character would look like a Gyroid. I don’t recall how that happened, but my character cane out one day looking like a Gyroid and I was mortified. I think it’s a glitch.

Yeah I felt the same way with Coco because she is really creepy with that face she has. She barely expresses emotions. I could not even imagine if there was more villagers like her. I mean its not like we had strange looking designs, like Sprocket and Ribbot who look like Robots.

anabelle's cute ^^
i had her on my original island...
I have her on my island now.
Got her very recently but I think she's got to go.
Not because of her mouth, but her house is so bright yellow it looks really odd on my island lol

Because side mouth characters do not work in 3D. Why do you guys think they had Jingle making jokes like "Please only look at my good side" lol. One of the only solutions is to be willing to model the mouth always facing the camera (but that takes a bit of effort to make work).

Regardless, I'm ok with side mouth characters, even if they do look bad from certain angles.
Megan be staying the side mouth queen tho. 💜

Chadder had a side mouth, I didnt notice he did for awhile, I think he was still adorable. I dont think any of my current villagers do

But I dont really see the difference, the anteater's mouths are below their snouts, their just hatd tk see. But when I had Panga, I saw hers

I think it's just a consequence of there being so many villagers to design and wanting to differentiate them in certain ways.

The goats are another species where some have higher mouths and some have lower mouths.

One of my current villagers - Cheri the cub - has permanent side-eye, which was a little odd at first, but now I don't notice it. Then I also remembered my character has permanent side-eye, haha.

The side mouths I get in a design aspect, when posed properly they convey more personality. But the problem is that when faced head on you see the issues.

It has pros and cons. But to me I still find them nice as designs go. Paolo is one and I quite like him. I think eyes play into whether or not they work. Eloise head on or any other angle besides front 3/4 is not great.

As for anteaters, I understand why don't have mouths, since they are naturally small and at the front of their protruding snout, it would be hard and kind of a waste to animate and pose out the small mouths on the species model.

I agree with the above comment, it has a lot to do with having villagers stand out, even among their own species.

I don't mind a side-mouthed villager but it's kinda funny that all of my screenshots of Dizzy and Eloise are taken with the mouth side facing the camera.I don't do that consciously...eh,at least i don't think I do.
