The holiday season is coming to an end and Everybody had a very jolly time, thanks to whatever holiday they were participating. We're all about to leap to another year soon. Sounds exciting, right? Well, for the vast majority of forumgoers, it'll be for only two days. What comes next? The ultra dull and frustrating January! That month for me is the worst of the year for many, many reasons. And here are a few of them to argue why I said so:
- The cold weather is typically at its worst this month, because the freaking winter has begun not long ago! And it can get even more brutal the closer you are to North Pole, along with the Random Number God who loves lashing out a arctic cold whenever he feels like it. And getting outside is much less seamless than the previous season was. Most often, it forces us to wear layer upon layer of clothes just to fight it back, or scramble fast as hell to get from point A to point B whenever possible. Makes me avoid partaking any outside activity during the whole season for that very reason. Also, people tend to be less happier outside and be more worried reaching to their point B.
- The snow is still there, and it will keep growing from there. I didn't minded when I was much younger, because it meant no school. But then, time has long passed and it now betrays me in a hard way. Had a snowstorm? Hope I stored my car in a garage, because this would be otherwise time to waste 5 minutes to many many hours just to get the snow out of my way. I once took two hours just to clear my car. Speaking of cars, snow is practically my worst enemy known to mankind. It can force me to inch a bit further just to see if there's any incoming car, and it can also make any path even trickier to navigate as it gets tighter and even more slippery (especially when combined with ice underneath it) despite having equipped my winter wheels. And for some reason, some drivers are far more prone to commit minor errors. Never experienced any of this? Just go for a trip in Canada and you'll see what I mean.
- New Year is pretty much the only holiday I care for the month. After that, there's literally nothing else to do outside of work. The latest movies here aren't even considered blockbusters, and there's little to no new video games coming out this month. For some, they finally get to catch up their breath. Others like me will surely find that very booooooooorrrrrriiinnggg... Unless I find a way to kill the monotony by having better things to do, January will be easily the most forgotten month. I do have a huge backlog of unbeaten games to keep me covered, so I've already got myself covered as long as I don't get too lazy on beating them. Then, we have February. It's only slightly better than January, because of the fact that spring is getting even closer, but it's still unbearable thanks to the lack of major holidays and still facing the recurrent winter frustrations. March is as good as the previous month for the same reason along with slightly better temperatures, though it's offset by the much more annoying and frequent precipitation. Man, I wish being able to hibernate through the first three months of the year. And how about more interesting holidays for these months. Dear humanity, you disappoint me!
These 3 reasons are pretty much making January one of the greatest candidates of being the worst month of the year. I give this month a rating of 0.78! Too much snow, too much cold, and not enough things going on!
