Why is Static not in boxes?

I want to start by saying this is only my second villager I have "allowed" to move. Also, I haven't and don't time travel.

Alright, last Thursday, Static told me that he was moving on the 25th (tomorrow). I need room in my town as I have 10 villagers so I gave him the green light to move and he seemed excited to move onto greener pastures. So I have avoided him, so that I don't interfere with him moving and I even auctioned him off to someone who wanted him. Long story short, I was fully expecting Static to be in boxes today so that he could be claimed. The person who won Static came over to claim him only to tell me that he was not in boxes! I was surprised and had to see for myself. When I entered Static's house, he sure didn't look like he was moving to me!

So, do the villagers just up and change their mind about moving without any interaction? Or could I be off on my dates? Maybe some other factor? Is he still moving? I'm not sure, but maybe someone here can shed some light for me! Thanks!

I've made this mistake before too.

The villager text makes it sound like they will be gone on the day they mention but it's actually the day they pack up. So he will have his boxes packed tomorrow for you.

Sweet, that's a huge relief! I felt real bad for the person who won him because they really wanted him. Now I feel a little better, thanks!

I have 2 towns with 2 cranky villagers. Apollo and Static.

Back in June, in my first town I wanted Apollo OUT!!!!! He said "He was moving." I said " Goodbye!" A couple of days later he reminded me again. Again, I said "See Ya" This time he said he said "I have decided to stay."

Long story -- short story . Apollo is the most AWESOME villager!!!!! He gives great obscure items and he is super friendly. He says I am his best friend. He was one of the first villagers who gave me his pic. He also never asks for some rare fish or bug.

Static is turning into a sweet villager.

The developers of this game know what they are doing. The majority of people want the sweet villager like Fauna.
Yes, Fauna is sweet but she is a pest who always wants some rare item and she gives awful gifts. I only keep her aorund because I don't want to mess up my town map.
