Why is the username change so expensive?

I really flat out hate my username, its just gross and I want to change it to "Ness". I'm also unsure if Ness is taken already but if that's the case it'll be "YaBoiNess".

You can check if the username you want is taken by simply using the search option under Community > Member list

Certain things need to cost more TBT otherwise people would accumulate TBT and have nothing to spend it on xP. Username changes seem somewhat desirable so it's a good way to remove TBT from circulation to also help reduce overall inflation of the goods/services that can be bought with TBT.

If the name changes aren't expensive, then somebody could just buy them all. Then nobody can change their name until staff restocks it.

That's interesting feedback to hear, given that many of us on the staff feel as if the price is too cheap right now. Usernames should be changed rarely and not frequently on a whim, so there is a high price to require an "investment" into your new name so to speak.

As Jubs said, basically so that people don't change their name too often. I like that it's one of the more expensive items in the shop so that people avoid changing their name 100 times a week. Also its not an unlimited restockable item, so even if it were cheap, it would take a while for restocks to happen.

Yeah I prefer it being more expensive. People should think carefully about what they make their username be. It should be something you stick with, not something you change every other day just because you feel like it or grow bored of your current one. Most forums don't even allow username changes, so the fact that you can do it at all is really very generous of the staff.

The price went up on them, yeah. I don't know. I bought a few in my time here. I'm indecisive. It's not real money so I can't complain, but some sites have free name changes but time limits on them. That's a pretty good system.

Yeah, on some other forum I joined, I forgot what it was, had free name changes, but you could only change it 3 times in a month.

I think the only reason it seems expensive is because of how much inflation there has been for the price of TBT

I fully support one free name change per user. I've seen that done on many forums and from what I've seen, people like it.

I remember it being more expensive than it is now at one point.. you also had to post in a thread with your change and it could take weeks. I think it's a bit on the pricey side to avoid abuse, but I could be wrong. Never really thought about it.

Yes, Im very indecisive. I changed my username like possibly 20 times or more when I hung out there.

Another thing is that if username changes were more affordable many scammers could take advantage of it. They could scam someone, then quickly change their username before getting caught.

I'm also in support of the one free change idea. I wanted to change my username a couple months back, but ultimately didn't because the price was too high. I had enough but I'm just...a bell hoarder. Surprised to see it's gone down now, but I still don't want to cash out for it lmao.
