Wifi Troubles? 018-0512 and 018-0511

My friend and i are having trouble going to each other's towns. He was the first to get me into the game, i was around his town more than i ever was in my own. Recently though when i try to visit him now i get 018-0511 and he gets 018-0512 when he tries to visit mine. We have tried everything and are completely clueless. He's going to be resetting his cartridge which is a shame but his choice. If anyone can help, that would be great! I don't want to see his hard work go to waste plus he might want to play the game again sometime and i could give his stuff back. I've tried sitting right next to the router but nope. Just anything at this point we're willing to try out.

Oh also, we have had people around. I have had a lot of people around from here and his last was in November.

I had similar trouble with one of my friends. It was only affecting her. I wasn't able to visit her or her visit me. It turns out that it was her internet router that was very outdated and it wouldnt work until after it was replaced.

Thank you for replying i never really thought about that...IFF it is that i have no way to fix it nor him.

I guess you both try updating your 3DS and the game but if that doesn't work then I have no idea!

literally googled the error code here is the explanation for the error codes http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/results.jsp?error_code=018-0511&system=3DS&

it could be the firewall blocking it? If your still having issues, I strongly suggest you give nintendo a call on 1-800-255-3700?

Yeahh..i been on that page, that doesn't help me and i'm in the UK he is in Sweden so..
