So New Leaf was my first experience with AC, and obviously I loved every minute of it. Now my town is complete, perfect the way I want it, and I have nothing else to do in it. I was thinking of getting a new ACNL town, but then I though, hmmm, maybe I should go backwards to try an older game.

SO, you WW-ers, what do you think---since I've heard I could play WW on my 3DS (I don't have a DS) is that a good idea?

Please consider answering:

1. Is it ok to play it on the 3DS for sure? Any other problems other than the resolution?

2. Is there much in WW that isn't in NL, that would make it worth going back to that game?

3. If you were me (someone who's ok with retro, old movies, etc) would you do it?

4. I don't want a used copy. But a new one on Amazon is like $55. Is that crazy? Is there any way to find a cheaper new one?

Advice, suggestions, ideas. IDK...just tell me something you love about WW. :D

I didn't know the price had gone up so much. I don't know if I'd be willing to buy a copy for $55, that's just me though.

Personally I think NL is a lot funner than WW, it has a lot more options when it comes to creating your town. I still love WW for nostalgia purposes and it is a great game, don't get me wrong. I just think it could be hard to downgrade, especially if NL is your only experience with AC. But, if you really want to try it out, go for it! There's no harm in playing one of the other versions.

Wild World after playing New Leaf is like playing Zelda 1 after playing Zelda a Link to the Past.

It's very very baron compared to New Leaf.

To answer question #4: Unfortunately, finding used or preowned are your only options at this point.

Ya, the price is a big deterrent...But I've heard of things in WW, and other games, that aren't in NL. I get them confused, but I think there was the message in a bottle, and some sort of exercises, the acorn festival everyone's posting about right now lol...other things like that, right? It sounds kinda fun!

Keep in mind I still play Zelda, and SMB on my GBA SP! I mean not all the time, but it's still fun to go back to. I guess it's only different in that those are nostalgic games, whereas this would be me going truly backwards...

WW doesn't have the morning aerobics, I think that's only in the gamecube one, but it does have the acorn festival and messages in a bottle :)

Don't forget the Flower Fest, Flea Market, Observatory, and the UFO! :)

1. Yeah, before NL came out, I played WW so much, on my 3DS and DSi.

2. Umm, like what was just said, WW is pretty boring and "empty" compared to NL. There's no Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. I noticed it always snows on Christmas Day though. You pretty much have to make stuff up or have local friends to celebrate those holidays with. Also, one good thing is that the villager's dialogue is more better.

3. I'd say you should do it just for experience and can see things from different point of views. (..?)

4. Try going somewhere where they sell video games and asked where they keep the used video games. I know in my local GameStop and Pawn Shows, I always see a used WW game.

Hope I helped :)

Midge wasn't in wild world so I don't see the point,I appreciate mCity folk more c:

All those other things sound like fun to experience. :)

Well, I won't have any friends to play with. ;_; Especially since there's no more wifi option...oh well

Also, the reason why I don't want a used one, is in case it's corrupted or it somehow messes up my 3DS. Maybe I should try...:/
I really don't like the idea of spending $55 on a new...

Hmm, I guess you have to make up your holidays like I did lol. Try find somewhere online or in real life where it's cheaper. I'm not sure if WW games corrupt since it's never happened to me, and the closes way it corrupted was when someone erased my town. Also I never heard of an WW town corrupting (I'll look it up).

If you do get acww, you can message me if you want any tips :)

Thanks, that would be awesome! :)

I think I was looking up if you can play it on a 3DS and somewhere I read a person saying it doesn't work on there, and then there was discussion of something being corrupted on their card from hacking of some sort...

lol, sorry that was so incoherent, I really don't remember what I read, just that it scared me. I spent over a year working on ACNL, and the idea of a corrupted game file was my biggest fear in life (almost) XD

Lol yeah, getting a corrupt town is scary D: But I've played on my acww on my 3DS a lot and nothing happened so I think it's fine imo. I think the only way that I know of that messes up your game is Action Replay or something (I'm not 100%) :p

1. You can play any DS game on your 3ds. You just cannot go to the home menu while playing, as it will close the game (You are warned if you accidentally press the home button)

2. There is the acorn festival, and the flea market. That's about it.

3. Maybe. The game is very laggy compared to NL.

4. Used copies are probably the best way to go. If you can buy one from a local store, I'd do that and then return it with the receipt if it didn't work. You can always delete the town currently on the cartridge.

After playing New Leaf for so long, I wouldn't go back to playing Wild World. It may have been a fun game for 8 years, but it's not that fun anymore. With the bad graphics, minimized features, the politically correct holidays (La-di Day and Yay Day), and small town, Wild World isn't that fun.

There's another thread about if ACWW is worth buying...people seem to be saying all the same thing. So I'm gonna trust you guys on this. If I see it used for really cheap, I'll try it out. But otherwise, I'll pass and wait for the next AC game. I'm going to get Fantasy Life soon anyway, it'll probably keep me quite busy.

Thanks for all your opinions! <3

In wild world, your villagers like to create their own hoard of flowers around their house. It's super cute ^^

1. Of course, as long as the region of the game is the same as the region of your 3DS.

2.Wild World is very empty compared to New Leaf. The game doesn't have as much to do unless you play with friends (and since Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection no longer exists for DS and Wii, it is impossible to connect with friends over the internet; local play still exists, however). I think the thing that made Wild World fun for a majority of fans was the fact you could play online with friends. There is also the lack of holidays and no additions you can make to you town (like the PWP in New Leaf).

3. I've gone back to play Wild World many times. I have reset my town at least twice (one of two Animal Crossing games that I have reset my town; the other being City Folk) to start over with new villagers and a new town layout. If you enjoy retro video games, especially hand-held games, this is the perfect game for you. Despite the lack of holidays, the game is still enjoyable to many, and you might find yourself getting lost in the game for more hours than you thought possible!

4. Since Animal Crossing: Wild World came out in 2005, the game is no longer considered "new" ($55 is a little crazy for an older DS game, however this is probably due to rarity of newer, unopened copies). The only way to find a "new" copy is to look on eBay and find one listed as "new" or "unopened." They might not be as cheap as you like, so tread carefully. You can possibly find used great-condition copies at a game store. I've seen several at local Gamestops and other stores recently. Used copies usually have a town already loaded on the cartridge, but you can easily delete the old town to create a new one!

Personally, I kinda like WW as much, maybe more than NL....idk it just seems cooler, like theres all these hidden things to discover. i love WW, it was the first AC i played.

I played Wild World as my second AC game 6 months after buying new leaf. I was kind of disappointed really and couldn't adjust my eyes to the graphics quality. There's nothing to do, really.

I was going to get a used version, but after all the replies on this thread, I changed my mind. I also watched an LP on youtube, and you're right, it seemed like there wasn't much to do. I wish I had experienced it at the time it came out. But now going back from NL is going to be too hard.

It is really hard to get into when you have a much better version, being new leaf, with better graphics, better aspects, etc. Also, the WW community is none existant and you can't wi-fi on it. This means you can't play with friends or buy villagers and furniture.
