What do you think?

Can we encounter Villagers on these islands Kapp’n brings us to, or will they remain only on the original Mystery Islands? Will we be able to invite them back to our Island?

Personally I’m really hoping for it, because the new islands would have to be incredible for me to keep spending Miles on them after having collected the new plants. I have no real need or desire to go visit other seasons, and apart from that, I’m not sure what the appeal will be. Any guesses?

Could be. I think most of the islands Kapp'n takes you to are resource-only islands where you can get materials to make new food recipes, but they might also have villagers too. Honestly i don't really see the point in having villagers on those islands as well, because it would defeat the purpose of the mystery islands. Guess will have to see when the update comes out

The only benefits I can see from these islands so far is getting the new plants and being able to visit islands that are different times of day and seasons from what your island is. We saw wishing on stars but I imagine you could also have the benefit of collecting season-specific materials, like snowflakes or acorns.

At the very very beginning of owning NH, I would sometimes go to islands to collect materials since it was harder to get basic ones at the beginning. But now I only bother to go if I have an open villager slot on my island. These mystery islands kinda feel like they'd be the same way to me even if they did have the villagers show up. I really hope they have more benefits than they seem right now, because otherwise they will be interesting only for a few days (just to get the new plants) and then no one will care anymore.

My thoughts exactly. The novelty would wear off very quickly for me if all they offer are different seasons / times of day.

What would be cool is if they actually included new “mysterious” items or critters. I doubt this’ll happen, but I’d love to catch whimsical bugs and fish, have Blathers ask where they’re from only to point out that the location you described isn’t marked on any map…Now that would be fun and different.

I hope so! But I just really hope that certain islands are not super super rare like some of the normal ones are now. I got bored real fast going to islands because the only Island I ever got was the regular island and bamboo island. I think I got garage island once. But it’s too much work collecting nook miles and then having to get a ticket one at a time to go to the same darn island every time.

I wonder if the new villagers will remain card only or they will be added to the roster for the regular islands.

I have the three octopi villagers and would like the new robot one to move in.

This would be interesting because I can see this effecting the "economy" of NMTs as currency. I wonder if Nintendo is a little frustrated with how NMT has become a currency in online trading, even with some places selling it for actual money.

While it still costs to visit these islands, it's half the price, and you don't use tickets at all - it's just straight up Nook Miles, which cannot be traded.

It'd also be interesting if these replaced the Dodo mystery islands all together. I really don't understand how they'd have two services that function the same way with one costing twice as much as the other (and with the other being cooler, i.e. providing opportunities to visit islands with a different weather/season/etc), provided that these new ones DO foster mystery villagers. It didn't say anything about that and this theory is certainly a reach, but I'm super curious about this.
