Let me tell you why, as my first child is being born, I am in cold sweat.
You see, many years ago, as a young woman I got in a bit of an ordeal.
I was told to take the Princess a wedding gift by my abusive father.
The gift was 300 coins. This was 2 months? salary worth of pay in the Mines.
As a dumb (and rebellious) 15 year old girl, I went and spent most of it on gifts for myself.
What I didn?t know, was that the Witch of Lost Souls was watching me.
She said to me:
?Poor lost child, you have spent all of your fathers coins! He will strike you!?
I felt the blood drain from my face, he would.
I kneeled down upon my knees. Why? Why would I do that?
I began to sob. Sob as if somebody cared.
But somebody DID care. At least at the time I believed she did.
?Now child, I will give you the 300 coins you spent, but under one circumstance..?
Her eyes glittered with malice.
?What? What is it?? I said Panic rising in my chest.
Would she tell him?
?Your firstborn child will be given unto me. No exceptions.?
Oh! That?s okay, since I?m never planning on having a child.
I struck the deal.
Now that would be okay, if my husband hadn?t made the same deal to avoid losing a bet.
Over a bet.
He struck the deal with The Greed Witch.
She is even more merciless.
I?m afraid the Witches will end us, and our baby.
