Not sure if this would work, but could you ask your relatives/friends to pre-order card packs for your as gifts? Cash is good, if you can spend it on HHD (or whatever you like), but if you want HHD stuff, see if people can do that for you. If you want to disguise your intentions because they might think you're weird, tell them about your plans to do a "let's play" thing and frame it as though they'll be helping you do an online playthrough demo, so they're...supporting your research...yeah. That's it.
