i've started year 11 today and i'm doing w.experience in october, i'm working at a research agency for a week and i'm gonna help out with projects and surveys and more things like answering calls and other routine duties, that kind of thing
but i'm worried about how it's gonna be and i'm also worried about how tolerant they are of mistakes if i make one, so i want to hear some of your stories on work experience if you've done it

I've done a few in the past (as well as started jobs) and can just say that most businesses will be tolerant and understanding of mistakes *nod*
Just be friendly, respectful and willing to learn. From my experience those qualities are more valuable than being flawless in your performance. Good luck with it, I hope you end up having a good time! :3

thank you for telling me these things!
i'm pretty friendly and willing to learn but sometimes i come across as rude with accidentally interrupting and naturally shifting my eyes away from people when they talk to me, hopefully they wont take it the wrong way haha

Good luck! I'm doing mine at a chemist next week, ofc I'm only doing the bare minimum like stocking shleves and serving customers but at least it'll look good on my resume lol

You're doing work experience kinda late, huh

My mum made me do it ****ing twiCE WTF...............the second time was the worst ****ing experience

I did work experience in Year 10 at the British Heart Foundation and I spent the whole week stapling those leaflets they said with collection dates to the plastic bags in little packets they want you to donate stuff in. The whole week. All five days. Me and the other guy who got sent there. All we did. And some staple fights because Year 10, why not? We had extended lunches at got to go home at 3pm (I think) because it does not take all day to do that stapling. Had KFC for lunch every day too. Would not recommend that in hindsight.

Also the two of us (and five or six other guys from school) got stopped by the police when we were wandering around town at lunch asking why we weren't at school. Someone had a letter, it was all cool.

i'll be doing work experience this year (year 12) but have no idea what it'll be yet.

i'm not stressed about it at all- it'll just be a bore most likely, but not anything to worry about.

Just be respectful. They can train a person's skills but they can't train a personality. Everyone makes mistakes so don't sweat it.

Never heard of that, is it like a class or something that'll teach you how to work?

If anything, just treat it like you would a job. Everyone makes mistakes, but if you're willing to get pass that you can grow.
