Well, do you have a QR machine yet? If you don't, talk to Sable a bunch of times (once every day about ten times in a row) and she'll make it available. I don't have the machine yet, so I don't quite know the process... Google it, I guess? XD
Try to study other people's designs and see the techniques they used for shapes and shadows and just practice a ton! One thing I did to get better was recreate some clothes I had in real life in the game. Like I said, just keep practicing!
